I'm kind of slow analyzing fights, but Bute does seem to throw some arm punches. Some of his 'combos' in the Andrade fight were him squaring up and pitty pattying Andrade's gloves. Crowd went wild every time, so he may have just been doing a little show. Guys with speed, like Taylor, forego power to get off flurries. The 'pull' the punch to get it back to throw again instead of putting something behind it. Not saying he doesn't get rotation on any of his punches, but I'll bet if you watch the combo's the only thing moving is arm, not upper body.
i say 50/50 but in reality lets take a look at one thing KP one loss is to a very special fighter in B-hop. in that fight he wasn't able to land solid agianst b-hop for 3 reasons 1 being that B-hops latteral movement was exceptional. 2 B-Hop has a great defence 3 B-Hop fghts wise as an old fighter he can't risk getting into a slugging match with a young powerful puncher. Bute posses a solid defence has good lateral movement but he some time stands in the pocket more then he has to. like he did in round 8 i belive with andrade. Kp has a totally different type of pressure then what andrade has he comes foward behind a jab and that big rigth hand wich is a key to beating a south paw. especially when that Sp carries his right hand really low. bute however can't be counted out as he has power of his own and has a good jab . in the end i feel it takes a special fighter to beat Kp one that can take pressure and reset . like a Calzaghe,B-hop, Kessler or AA 3 of wich would be the odd on favour to win but not a lock( i think b-hop would have a tougher time in a rematch ) it's still not clear if Bute is in that line as it is with AA. so this really comes down to a pickem with Kp a the slight favorite due to heis record against elite fighters.
Some comments related to this fight: Zuniga: “I respect him for what we did out there, I think he’s more technically sound than Pavlik but Pavlik hits harder. I’d say it’s 50-50 if those two ever met up.” Bute: “I hope Andrade wins and we’re able to have our rematch and settle things. I’m ready for anybody though, Taylor, Pavlik, anybody.”
He was actually being diplomatic when he said he thought it was a 50/50 fight. He actually thinks Pavlik would take it, it seems... [yt]f_2ZoUxfBg0[/yt] He's certainly got a case, Zuniga! I'm not sure at all Pavlik would be the underdog in this fight...50/50 is a safe bet, true, but maybe it overstates Bute's chances a little bit...haven't made up my mind, though. Pavlik can definitely win this.:good
Pavlik and Jack were part timers during the Zuniga fight. They have intensified the training since that fight.
Decebal, don't take everything Zuniga says as the absolute truth. I mean, at the beginning of the interview, he's speaking as if the fight was close and he still had a chance. Like it was only the uppercut to solar plexus. "He got me before I got him". That's not the fight as I see it. He was not even close to be able to land a big shot. I also think that he prefers to remember his fight against Pavlik because he did well in it. Psychologically, it's easier for him to say how wonderful Pavlik is. He knocked Pavlik down, so if Pavlik is good, he is too.
Bute is not invincible. I will be nervous when he faces Andrade again. Kessler would be a huge challenge. That being said, Pavlik has no chance against Bute. He doesn't carry the weight well at all at 168. He's slower, his power is diminished too. Bute is a southpaw with good lateral movement. That's all wrong for Pavlik. Pavlik pressures his opponents, but not enough to disturb Bute. Andrade has the dement level of pressure that disturbs Bute, Pavlik is far away from that. Sure, Pavlik has a 5 inches reach advantage and has a good jab. But since Bute is really a master in finding the good distance from his opponent and since Pavlik is not very accurate in his footwork, it's not a so big advantage. Where was Pavlik's jab against Hopkins? What Hopkins showed us against Pavlik can be duplicate by Bute. Slickness causes problems to Pavlik. I know that Larouche is not afraid at all of Pavlik. He would take that fight on the spot.
I favor Bute in this one,he is an intelligent fighter he wont do the same mistakes he did against Andrade.
Zuniga and Miranda don't really train to box out box anyone. They train to KO their opponent. You have to keep THEIR mindset in play here. So, in Zuniga's mind, as long as he is standing and able to throw the big shot, he is in the fight. Hence, Bute got him before he got Bute. The Pavlik knockdown was more of a balance thing. Watch the film. Pavlik wasn't hurt.
I don't think Zuniga is a supermiddle. I don't think his frame really carries it. He looked a lot better against Pavlik.
