It depends of their discipline and it depends of their coach. I don't know much of those guys coaches. But I know Larouche, who is obsessed on teaching new things to Bute and who is always thinking of what Bute should learn to be prepared, not only this fight, but in two or three fights. That's why Bute is still learning. It takes a lot of work and a good long term strategy. Bute is extremely disciplined and hard working. I think Booradley is right, it's time or never for some top boxers in the division.
bute is all wrong for kp. we've all seen what happens to him when he moves up to fight a bigger, slick fighter. i know that was bhop, not trying to compare, but i see bute doing pretty much the same thing to kp only not nearly as easily. plus he's a southpaw. bute UD.
after watching the bute andrade fight agian and the bika fight. bute seems to get flusterd when being pressured he holds a lot. he does well in spots and delivers good combo's but he held alot vs andrade. i think this fight comes down to style and i got it as a 80-20 fight in favour of kelly like i said before it takes a special fighter to beat another special fighter KP is Diamond (Rough) but a diamond none the less. his clear understanding and usage of the basic fundamentals of boxing will help him prevail over naturally gifted or more talented fighter most of the time. bute is naturally the bigger man but i feel that when the pressure is put on he seems to come undone as in the last few minutes of the andrade fight . which seperates bute and Kessler by a clear yard. andrade was in his chest all day which took some mustard of his punches thats why he wasn't able to effectively hurt bute untill the final round when bute had expended most of his energy. KP puts pressure behind his jab and that long right hand, hardly ever smothering his power i see this taking its toll on bute and this fight ends in the manor of KP-taylor 1 it just last until the 10th IMHO
i still got KP . Although with Bute's improvemnet the fight is much Closer 60-40 in favour of Pavlik.his JAb and Right hand are Essential in Beating a Southpaw. it a very winnable fight for Bute but i'll stick with KP. great win for Bute Tonight did something very few top fighters do anymore in taking it to the body and getting the KO. that 2 in a row now.:happy Plus he didn't hold at all really tonight he was always pushing away from the clinch even when andrade tried to hold his arm
Bute will be too powerful for Pavlik and Pavlik is not really known to have a granite chin. Bute by TKO.
If Bute goes looking for the KO against Pavlik and starts trading, he's throwing the fight away. I think it's unlikely he stops Pavlik: he doesn't box that aggressively against pressure fighters. And Pavlik wouldn't run into something stupid like Andrade did; he's much more fundamentally solid. I'd take Bute by decision.
lol okay Power - Bute. I don't think Pavlik's power at 168 would be on par with Bute, Berrio, Bika, Abrahammer or other top bangers at 168 Chin - Even if Pavlik's power is on par Bute has taken flush shots from Bika, Berrio and Andrade and only been down once, in part due to exhaustion. Pavlik has a pretty good chin and recovers quickly. that said Bute hits hard, is a great body puncher and a good finisher. Reach - This isn't as important as some make it out to be. Bute isn't going to have a jabbing contest with Pavlik Jab - again it isn't as simple as saying 'well Pavlik has a great jab and is now doubling it up' (he does have a great jab) but this only applies when Bute is there to be hit by it, most of the time he won't be. Pavlik will have a very hard time landing that on account of Bute's footwork. I think some have to watch more Bute fights and take note of his ability to block, parry, slip, duck shots and how good he is countering them. Pavlik is also underrated by most in terms of blocking, parrying & slipping shots with slight head movement but Bute's handspeed and punching in combinations is what will allow Bute to land with a high connect percentage Handspeed - Bute obviously, as mentioned above it'll be an important factor. Pavlik's handspeed vs Taylor II and Hopkins was noticably slower. In the Taylor fight it was okay for the first couple rounds then fell off the map. Bute has no problem fighting backwards, he isn't Miranda, so Pavlik being able to back Bute up isn't saying anything Pavlik can be compared to Kessler in regards to his problem with fighters who have good footwork, lateral movement & know how to work angles. This will be a huge factor in Pavlik's difficulty to land shots & what will help Bute land alot. Pavlik & Andrade's pressure tactics. As mentioned by another poster Pavlik won't be able to walk through Bute's shots like Andrade did in the first fight. Bute's footwork (lateral movement & angles) along with his handspeed/combo's & lefty status will be the biggest factors. Bute wins, maybe even stops Pavlik and no matter how long it lasts i think Bute makes Pavlik look very bad in the process. (i'm a big Pavlik fan too i just think Bute's all wrong for Kelly) This is obviously only my opinion and if anyone can point out things i'v negleted to think of that'll play an important role in the fight or disagree with me please feel free to critique mine.
alot of people are underrating KP. Bute is a great Fighter i just think this is where Style's come to the forefront and take over. Bute Circle's alot but doesn't really turn his man . if you look at the B-hop vs Kp Fight you'll notice B-hop would take a little step to the side throw KP jab off ,hit him with the left hook followed up by a right hand. he was countering him to a textbook Tee. Bute circles like a shark happens to go sraight back some times like he did tonight got caught on the ropes a feww time(wich actually helped since andrade was running right into him and eventually that Short left hand.) but KP doesn't do that when he gets a MAn on the ropes he Jab,jab right hand left hook the man even works the Body which a lot of fans over look. Bute has got great power but he couldn't use B-hops game plan as effectively as he's not really a counter puncher he attacks then then circles and then attakcs almost like a hit and run(elusive) tactic the Native american used and taught to the americans during the revolution. B-hop countered the **** out of KP and used his own movement against him like and Akideo martial artist would. if it were Kessler i would say yes but i feel Bute's Style would betray himin htis fight and play right into Kelly's hands it doesn't meen that Bute isn't the number 1 or 2 best SMW in the world though as he would clearly beat some of the Super six fighters.
lmao amazing, that reference was outta nowhere, guerilla warfare ftw i disagree with your analysis of Bute, he is a counter puncher and a very good one. When someone shoots a right hand he'll frequently duck slightly and counter with a left cross, right hook or uppercut upstairs or a left cross to the body. Or a combination of those, The variety in his punch arsenal is ****ing quality He'll also take a halfstep back then shoot something, like he did in the Zuniga fight for the first KD in the 4th round, a bodyshot. Bute will turn Pavlik alot just like Hopkins and he is a sharp counter puncher contrary to what you say.
