Yet, in some fights, the pressure fighter beats the boxer-puncher, despite the latter's speed, movement, etc. Andrade could win this fight even if he lands less than 20% of his punches if he is tough enough and if he throws enough and hard enough. I am not sure why you are convinced that he isn't capable of that.

As far as I know, Showtime didn't pick this fight up at all. It was offered to them by Bute's promoters, Interbox, who wanted Bute to get exposure in American, after they couldn't convince any American nerwork to buy it.

If he lands 18 power punches a round, at the right time, in the right place, in the right order, why not? It's not as if Andrade ever uses his jab.

Montreal is not in Germany. Interbox is not Sauerland. For a world championship, there will probably be only one judge from Montreal. And anyway, against Bika, the Montreal judge a 107-111 victory to Bute, the American judges scored the fight 109-108. The guys from US TV were very surprised that the bad score came from the local judge. For the moment, Montreal has a good reputation.

Try harder to convince me! Some examples of an un precise, slow pressure fighter beating a fast all-around skilled boxer-puncher? Don't say Cotto, Cotto is himself a pressure fighter, he lost to a better pressure fighter. Pavlik was sloer than Hopkins, was he able to land big shots? If Andrade scores only 20% of his shots, there is no way he can win the fight.

I think you don't know Andrade. He doesn't land at the place or the right time. He just try over and over, anytime, anywhere, touching or not the other guy. If he begins to chose his time, he won't be the same pressure fighter we know. So we would have to review all our predictions.

    I see your point.

Though I wouldn't say Kessler and Bute are VERY different fighters. They both have similar strengths, and imo, it will be interesting to see if bute's arsenal can hold off Andrade.

I don't think there will be anywhere near the amount of flush shots landed on Andrade in this fight as there was when he fought Kessler, simply because Bute will be moving around more and wont feel the need to constantly be engaging with him.

I believe the Kessler fight has paved the way for Bute to adopt a different approach to the one Kessler used. Not that Kessler's wasnt succesful, I mean he won every round. It's just that that fight made it look impossible for Andrade to be stopped.

Bute will be moving away a bit more, but will still be in there enough to win rounds.

It's not like Bute is gonna stand there and go Mayorga style on him,no way he lands 18 power punches/round

The closer It gets and the more aware I am of the pressure Librado will be able to applie on Lucian. Since you guys are incisiting on that, plus the fact that Andrade as a granit chin, I think that a 12 round war between those two guys could increase the chances for an upset.

That made me try to set a strategy for Bute to avoid that possibility, so, my results shown that the best way for Bute to avoid the wearing and the tearing of a long battle is to finish early.

Imagine the impact this outcome would have on Lucian's career, my american buddies will want to see more of him, other great names will want a shot at him, maybe even our dear friend Kessler would start to doubt about a possible unification.

    Can't wait !

I've watched him against Kessler, Mack and Stieglitz. I saw quite an impovement. I expect he will have improved even more in preparation for Bute. He won't choose his time; he'll keep coming forward and throwing so much that even if he only landed 20% of shots, he could still land as much as 18 power punches a round, and that is certainly enough to win most fights against top world class opposition. Obviously, if I underrate Bute and overrate Andrade, you are right. I don't think I do, though. Before you ask, I've watched all of Bute's last four fights too. I'm not aiming to convince anyone of anything; I was just making some observations about the fight. For what it's worth, I am picking Bute to win too, but in a very close, hard fight.

Andrade starts much better than Bute and a guns-at-dawn approach would play right into Andrade's hands, I think. I'd say it'd be better to take a look for a round or two to see what Andrade can do, before taking the fight from there. Isn't that what Bute usually does?

In his last four or five fights, Lucian was boxing in a more defensive fashion because he needed to gain ring experience and also because he knew that the big fights were approaching and he couldn't risk a hand injury. It also comes to mind that since the opposition was not very dangerous, he kept his hands less active, not to show the world yet what he's capable of. So this time he has to start strong and never look back, and that dosen't mean he has to forget about his defence. It just means that he will show no mercy if any openning comes to hit the body or if Andrade shows any hesitations, Bang !

Lucian just had his first public trainning session and here is an interview he gave in french this afternoon.
