Lucian Bute would stop Jermain Taylor and win a decision over Kelly Pavlik at 168

Bute TKO 10 Taylor after a virtual shutout - Speedy southpaws are Taylor's worst stylistic nemesis.

Bute TKO 5-8 Pavlik - Too sloppy, too open and too easily damaged, straight left is going to hit everytime.

 

Actually on second thought, I don't see what Jermain Taylor could do to beat Lucian.

It's hilarious how you underrate your favourite fighter. I am being dead serious now, all bias aside, Bute would easily beat both of these guys.

Taylor is not a better mover than Bute, he's just a faster mover, his footwork is basic and his movement tactically inept. Southpaw's are big trouble for him, Bute being a quick, bigger, more powerful and accurate southpaw is a horrible stylistic fight for Taylor, it'd only be a matter if he could win a couple of rounds in between, which I don't rule out. As the fight gets deeper and Taylor starts to fade, Bute's going to be nailing him more and more with the straight left and will stop him later on.

This is my honest, unbiased analysis.

Against Pavlik, Bute's movement will offset Pavlik well and his quick southpaw style will pose a lot of problems due to the accurate straight left hand again, something any orthodox fighter has to watch out for, but, you are correct, Pavlik is a harder style for Bute than Taylor is, but he's such a sloppy, 1 dimensional fighter and with such a bad defence, that Bute will be able to tee off on him just like Quintana did on Paul Williams with the big left's.

Now, seeing as Bute has more than just a good powerful straight left hand and seeing that Pavlik has been stunned by a 'not powerful' puncher in Taylor, what do you think is going to happen.

Hell mate, Pavlik looked like **** at 166, he's clearly got the Hatton syndrom of not being able to jump weight and better stay at 168.

Now don't doubt your favourite fighter against these OVERRATED fighters who aren't even in his class.

 

Oh GOD, Mundine would flat out murder Taylor, can anybody think of anybody worse than a Roy Jones Jr imitator that actually has skill, power, defence and speed?:yep

Roy Jones is the absolute pinnacle worst fighter for Taylor and Mundine is the best imitator of that style around.

 

Bute beats them both. I voted decision, but if they actually made the fights, I'd pick late stoppages.

Pavlik's kryptonite is clearly faster fighters with good defense and movement (whether it is lateral movement or in and out movement). Bute, from a stylistic standpoint, presents all kinds of problems for him. Pavlik's timing would be seriously affected and he wouldn't be able to sit down on his punches. We saw with Taylor in the second fight how flat he looked and he didn't have much snap on his punches. Bute would take away Pavlik's right hand, make his pressure ineffective, pick off Pavlik, landing more shots and the cleaner shots.

I can't pick Taylor over Bute considering how much trouble a smaller fighter like Cory Spinks gave him. He just can't seem to get a clear win over anybody and I highly doubt he gets one against a larger/stronger SMW of Bute's caliber.

I was hoping that Pavlik would put on a very impressive performance that would indicate he could be a big factor at 168. But basically, he just showed more flaws that I thought would be the case. He'd be a B/B- level guy at 168.

 

Bute beat Sakio Bika wide, he hammers Taylor.
