There's boxing outside Quebec ? More seriously it's easy to know why Bute is so much a big draw in Quebec it's because he adopted the place and learn to speak frensh better then a lot of frensh people talk it! People here always have been respected hard worker and Bute is a good exemple of this! He came here at the right time (end of Lucas era) and keep the sport alive. The only reasons why Bute could be known in the rest of the Canada it's because of HBO.
I'm a fan and can't wat to see more from him. He is skilled and like West said he knows where to hit his opponents. He also has like some "magical aura" around him when he fights he's a special fighter with all-around skills. Very good at everything but also great at bodypunching. Good footwork, power, speed, and knows when to throw. He doesn't seem to waste much punches if at all.
lol you complaining against an undefeated, slick, power-punching fighter? Well... at least he's enjoyable to watch.
I do not think Bute will ever get the chance to fight the winner of the S6. It will be like Wright/DeLahoya, Pavlik/Abraham, Arguello/Duran, and many other fights that should have happened, but won't. Bute is tied into HBO. They are looking to give him a big push. Showtime has options on the winner of the S6. Money, promotional issues, and contractual issues will most likely stop this fight from happening.
You got one thing wrong for sure. Montreal is a big boxing market. Bute draws between 13 000 and 15 000 spectators to his fights. There's not a lot of places were tickets goes so fast.
Good post, Boo. His abject dismantling of Andrade in the rematch was something that caught my attention.
Are you kidding me? Montreal is a hole in the wall. Vegas, Atlantic City, MSG in NY, Germany, UK are real markets. How many blockbuster PPV events has Montreal held? Zero! The rest of Canada doesn't even hear about what goes on in Montreal, that's how insignificant it is there. Half of those 13-15K people that show up are probably expecting a Canadiens game. Of course Bute seems like a big deal there, he's scared to death to fight anywhere else, aside from Romania of course. He rather fight B- and C level opponents within the safety of the Bell Centre where the judges and refs will save him if need be. The 0 on his record therefore looks impressive Bute is just a pretender, it's a matter of time until he's put on ***** street again.
I can understand in a way agree with the first sentence, but then you start saying stupid things. Bute is locked up by the s6 and you know it. So stop with your B, C level fighters, you just look stupid. I dont normaly insult posters, but I'm tired of people saying stupid things and get away with it. It's not because some people say something that it becomes true.
the rest of Canada is horse**** compared to Montreal. Everyone knows it. Montreal is one of the best cities in the world and the fact is that boxing is a growing entity here and there is alot of money to be made.
