If you look at the resumes of L Bute and J Lacy you may be surprised at how they are not too far apart. Before you jump read on.

    Butes resume consists of -
Bika, Berrio, Joppy, Andrade x2, Zuniga, Miranda and Brinkley

    Lacys resume consists of -
Tsypko, Vanderpool, Sheika, R Williams, Reid, Pemberton, Manfredo

A brief reminder of who Lacy fought, Without going into too much detail, but looking at who they fought and where these fighters were in their careers when fought it seems fair to say their resumes arent too far apart. Tsypko became European champ, Reid beat Brinkley (who Bute just defended against) before Lacy beat him, and beat undefeated B Magee now European champ and WBA regular mandatory. Sheika went on to challenge for a world title again. Pemberton held wins over Sheika. Manfredo had just lost to Calzaghe and was in The Ring top 10 when that happend.

This thread is not about Calzaghe so please lets save those arguements for the respective threads. This thread isnt also to say ones a better fighter than the other, its just based on resume.

But back to Lacy and Bute, who do you think has the better resume and how far apart do you think their resumes are (Not in terms of ability, but just resumes).

    What you think?

The thing is, the ink is dry on Lacy's resume. It's highly unlikely he's going to add any names of note to his win column.

Bute is just getting started and already has arguably as good, nearly as good, or slightly better a resume of wins (let alone that he's undefeated and Lacy has been absolutely spanked multiple times).

So it's pretty safe to project that by the time it's all said and done Bute's resume will be unquestionably far better than Lacy's.

Pretty simular resume's as far as each fighter's rise. They both earned belts at siumular times in thier careers also. Can't really say who has the better resume because the guys on bute's resume were in the same position as the guys on Lacy's resume during his rise.

The difference is that Lacy won close fights vs almost everybody on your list while Bute KO (destroy) everybody except Bika :deal!

The obvious difference is that although some of the fighters on Lacy's resume were once good (Reid etc.), at the time he fought them they weren't. This thread is essentially an exercise in boxrecing.

Considering Lacy lost to a more than over the hill Roy Jones and a declining, to say the least, Jermain Taylor, I don't think it is worth comparing his resume with Bute's.

What you seem to be saying is that on paper Bute is now where Lacy was when he was on top. It might be a fair observation but it doesn't mean anything.

neither has an impressive resume. Bute has all the tools, he just needs to now face competition. And i am not implying it's his fault or not his fault, that at 30 years old his best win is either Bika or the Andrade rematch. But it is what it is. He now needs to find the big fights, and if he has to go down 2 lbs or up 7 to make them, he needs to do that.

Lacy never finished that first fight with Tyspko, clash of heads ended before what might have shown how limited Left Hook was. From Vanderpool to Pemberton, those guys were shot. Lacy vs Andrade, Berrio, Miranda, Zuniga would've been absolute wars. See Lacy vs Donnell Wiggins or Mendoza.

Those fights came after the names on his resume I mentioned and the Jones fight was at LHW
