I would like to add that in that fight ( Froch vs Magee ) ,the fight was very close between Froch and Brian untill Froch land that shot. In the fight with Bute , Magee was dominated in every round by Bute and stopped. Also in the fight against Bika for the IBF mandatory challenger , Bute has beaten Bika more convincingly than Ward. Ward had a lot of toubles with Bika and it was a close fight.
I'm a Bute fan , and I don't discredit Ward's performance. He won fair&square this tournament and he deserves those belts and that cup. Only objection is that he fought only in America unlike the other fighters from s6. But now, this think it doesn't matter anymore.
Kessler didnt get Ko'ed by Andrade. Froch knocked out Magee COLD 4 years before Bute, Bute only managed a TKO. Froch vs Johnson, Froch didn't struggle. SMF Bika stopped Mendy in 1 but was robbed of the win. DQ Bute got a UD12 with Sergey Tatevosyan , Froch did it in 2 just 2 months after he fought Bute. Good game this all it tells you is styles make fights
Money is a troll. The NAMES were in the S6. Now that the S6 is over, Kessler is running away of Bute, so is Ward, shamelessly ducking Bute.
its funny the people say Bute doesnt deserve his shot yet are the same ppl that probably complain that there are too many champs and not enough unification this fight makes the most sense sure Bute and froch have bad blood but that can be sorted after Bute Ward which is more important to clarity in the division it would be like if Ellis won the heavyweight tournament and avoided Frazier or Tyson won the heavyweight tournament and didnt fight Spinks this fight has to happen resume wise Bute destroyed everyone he faced in his defenses all vs good world level opponents may be not p4p quality guys or TV stars but all tough most being pretty good punchers Bute's only hiccup was Andrade, a fight he won every round in until gassing then Andrade couldnt even KO and exausted Bute who beat the count despite you conspiracy theorist excuse makers
Let's see: Joppy - joke defense, you're right Andrade - ranked #5 by Ring at the time Zuniga - Not a great defense, but was ranked by Ring as #10 at the time Andrade II - Was best fighter available Miranda - So it's okay for Ward and Abraham to fight him, but not Bute? Besides, HBO pushed for this Brinkley - Mandatory, and ranked at the time Magee - Best fighter available he hadn't already beaten Mendy - Mandatory Johnson - Best fighter available, and made only after Pavlik fell through It's not a great run of defenses, but it's also not his fault. The fact he's jumping straight in to fights with Froch after the Super 6 ended shows he wasn't just ducking guys.
It is not that bad. Those are a bunch of good fighters. The problem is that Bute's trunk is full of silver... the gold and diamonds are missing.
Looking at threads on ESB from those years.. -Joppy was accepted as a lower level first defence -Andrade was applauded as a step up to the division top 5 in terms of opposition -Zuniga was generally accepted as a solid first fight post-Andrade R12 -The rematch was a pleasant surprise, lots of haters had said in the first fight threads that Bute would never give Andrade a rematch -Miranda was criticized as being a past it MW, but had a good punchers chance -Brinkley was chastised for being a low caliber mandatory opponent -Magee was chastised for being a choice (Showtime) from left field with paper credentials only -Mendy was mocked over & over -Johnson was a highly anticipated fight, and a fair gauge for Bute vs solid top 10 opponent Over half of them are positive. Not bad for a guy who wasn't in the glorified Super Six.
Shush, we don't talk about the 1st fight, its the 2nd one that counts, 1st one never happened and IF (big if) it did happen, Bute didn't need help from the ref, he was stumbling around in the ring like a drunk because of fatigue and mostly to fool andrade to set him up for a KO.
Nice try. You didn't mention the fact that Kessler only fought Andrade once having won convincingly in their only bout. You also forgot to mention that Froch dislocated his thumb againt Magee. Finally you didn't mention that Johnson claimed to have injured his right arm in the fourth round against Bute. Although his other claim, that he 'beat (Bute) with one hand', was of course laughable. So I see you are willing to provide a little more context when it suits you. Maybe next time you might want to concede that the likes of Froch and Kessler struggled/failed to stop common opponents because of differing circumstances. Oh and for the record, according to Bute's interview with a Romanian broadcaster, he injured his hand in the ninth, not the fourth.
