Could somebody please explain the deal regarding Lucien Bute.

So far, all I hear is fanboy's and haters. I don't really know much about him, but from what I know, he's the dude with the 'other' belt, who (for whatever reason) didn't fight in the Super Six.

Some people say he's a molly-cuddled dude with a paper belt - Others say he's the bomb.

From what I gather, he's more un-proven than anything else. And Froch will be his first test in the Division.

From watching a highlight reel just now, He seems to be fast, powerful - Strong Body shot.. But generally fighting Cans?

Anyone care to provide an opinion that isn't based on hatred/fanaticism?

He is a Boxer with great skill but is untested. He won a shitty fight against Old Man Johnson.

    Froch is his biggest test

I think it goes.... Ward, Dirrell, Bute, Kessler, Froch, Johnson, AA, Green, Taylor in that order.

Bute is a pretty smart fighter and has shown improvement. He is guilty of enjoying homecourt advantage and was koed against andrade in the final seconds of their first bout. He is above average in all aspect with a good boxing IQ. I don't see anyone beating him unless is Dirrell or Ward.

And Kelly in his prime KO's both Froch & Bute. We'll have to wait & see if Comeback Kelly can do the same.

Pavlik would struggle to win rounds against Bute.

Yeah...maybe. Until Pavlik knocks his ass out. I stood right next to Bute in a packed Graziano's Restaurant at the IBHOF. He was only an inch taller than me & I'm 5'-10". If Kelly can turn back the clock, he crushes this guy.

SOB would not allow Bute to fight in his own tournament. SOB would not fight Bute on Showtime, then got angry because after Showtime boycotted Bute/Froch fight EPIX decided to show it! Ward has no control over EPIX, EPIX also shows the Klitschko fights, and other Euros..........Bute was the only boxer who never had to travel. Bute will fight Froch in Froch's home town which is something Ward would never do. Kessler refused to fight Bute as well..............

Lucian Bute is a fairly big SMW, he has fast hands, he hits with alot of venom (probably the hardest puncher in the division), he has a very good skillset: he gets the combos off, good movements, excellent counter puncher and with a deadly accurate body shot. He can be vulnerable to straight shots sometimes though. He often fights aggressively, he is there to take his man out, he is not going to waste anytime, he fights like he has a chip on his shoulders...
He was left out of the S6 tourney and has struggled to secure himself the big fights in the division, so he isn't as proven as the other super stars in the division (Ward, Froch and Kessler).. His resume is DECENT, it doesn't consist of cans and complete no hopers like some people believes, but it is far from an impressive resume.. But he do have the skill level and physical attributes that you look for in an elite fighter, he is in his prime and has time to make up for lost time, and he is definitely good enough to hang with the elite

Lucian Bute has some good wins imo, like Andrade , Bika , Johnson and Magee ! Also he K.O'd Miranda in spectacular fashion.
Now he will fight with the finalist of the s6 tourney / No. 2 smw fighter, Carl Froch in his hometown .

If Bute will beat Froch convincingly , he will fight with Andre Ward ( champ of smw div. ) , of course if and if Ward will accept it.

This has to be Bute's biggest test jet...

    Comes to mind:

Has Bute ever faced an unbeaten fighter...?

Kessler 4 times - Andrade, Calzaghe, Ward and Froch
Froch 3 times - Ward, Pascal and Dirrell

    Ward - none
    Bute - none

    (I think..)
