http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=6319535 From ESPN: "I'm good. I don't know why they stopped it," Kirkland said. "There isn't a three-knockdown rule in Vegas. I'm really upset right now. That was a messed up call. I was telling [Cortez] I want to fight. [Ishida] wasn't anything. He didn't have any power. This is all messed up. :rofl:roflatsch
i was kinda waiting to see what would happen when he finnaly got hit back, was this more fluke than anything or what
lets be honest kirkland clearly was no where near hes a game and i would probly attribute that to the 2 year prison sentence he recently came out from but kirkland dident seem to phased by the punches YES he hit thecanvas 3 times but he seemed fine much like when jmm was floored 3 times by pacquiao in thefirst round he went on to counterpunch hes way back into the fight kirkland should have swollowed hes pride and gone on thedefensive until the end of the round to re compose himself.
Latest quote from Kirkland: "What the ****, the crazy guy kept punching me in the face. What is that ****? This is why I carry a gun around with me, and now you won't even let me do that."
Yeah, it was nothing like that. It was like a multitude of non-title matches where one fighter gets knocked all around the ring by the other and the referee does the obvious thing.
He was getting battered and it would have been fair enough if Cortez had stopped it before the 3rd trip to the floor. Kirkland needs to accept the loss and move on.
