Luis Collazo, the unsung hero of Puerto Rico, has had some tough calls against him. He lost last year to Andre Berto, in a fight I personally thought he won. Watch the fight again, and score round by round, and in my opinion he won most of them. He also had a tough decision loss to Ricky Hatton, and again a fight that I thought was at least a draw or even a win for Collazo, but not a win for Hatton. Collazo is not even a full-time boxer like most elite boxers according to HBO in their commentary during the Berto fight. He even has an early morning bread run that he and his wife do to financially support themselves. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this, or if this is outdated information. In any case, Collazo has had it tough, and does not make the money that other top fighters at his level make. He deserves a break. I understand that most boxers make peanuts in this sport, and feeling sorry for one boxer over another is pointless. But I will make an exception in Collazo's case since he had two tough calls against him at the world stage that could have changed the course of his career. Why not have Collazo take on Pacquiao? In fairness to Pacquiao, there would have to be a good reason for him to fight Collazo. Well, Collazo isn't a bad name to fight. He's a respected fighter in the 147 lb. division, and he had two controversial losses go against him. Pacquiao could use a "tune-up" or easy fight right now since fighting big name fighters De La Hoya, Hatton, and Cotto. I also think this fight could go PPV. A fight with Pacquiao would be financially lucrative for both fighters. The split of the purse would of course favor Pacquiao, but still be good for Collazo. I don't see Andre Berto fighting Pacquiao anytime soon also since he's fighting Mosely. Best of all, I think this would be an exciting fight for boxing fans. Pacquiao would be favored to win, but I think Collazo is smart enough to keep this fight from ending too early. Both have exciting styles, and Collazo is a legitimate elite contender at 147 lbs., top 5 at best, but definitely top 10 at that division. What does everyone think?

Guy deserves a big pay day. Although he's one of those high risk low reward guys. Alot like Clottey. His stock actually falls with each good performance he puts in against world class comp.

I had him beating Hatton. What a case of bad luck for such a good fighter.

Yes, you're right, he's from New York, but he represents Puerto Rico, if I'm not mistaken.

maybe his parents or grandparents were from there, but he has never been nor does he really speak Spanish. It's like when Fernando Vargas was repping everything Mexico yet fought for the US Olympic team.

Yet he was born and raised in California. If he likes Mexico so much then he should move there. Then again, there would probably be a shortage of taco shells if he moved there.

What's so odd about that, Vargas is a first generation Mexican-American who probably has stronger tides to his Mexican culture.
