Interested on your thoughts as Collazo is Bertos mandatory......I've been following Berto for a little while and I'm impressed but still have my doubts....Collazo has proven himself fighting elite competition and is a very skilled boxer in my opinion(just a note I scored his fight with Hatton 115-113 for Collazo) Personally I think Collazo takes it by UD or late KO..he has a great defense, adaptability, ring intelligence, decent workrate, superb sense of distance and timing, and a decent chin to boot....... Berto is good, but he makes costly mistakes(usually late in the fight) and has a shaky chin, which I think Collazo takes full advantage Your thoughts:good
Good point Rob - but I would back Collazo to outslick Berto, who seems wooden at times. Collazo was hit with some serious stuff by both Mosley and Hatton, and took it pretty well. I am not sure Berto is in the same class.
The Mosley fight was an intriguing affair until the hand injuries stopped him sitting on his punches, allowing Mosley to walk him down somewhat!!
Berto is a bit like Carlos Baldomir in that he seems to just trundle around the ring, and whilst effective, a certain type of opponent would beat him. 1. Swarmer 2. Counter puncher Berto would generally beat your run of the mill boxer, but guys with a bit of something different would do the business.
I can see Berto doing very well in the first half of the fight but I just can't help but envision Collazo catching him when he gets careless......Collazo is a timing master and wouldnt need great power to put Berto out...just timing and solid combos..his defense and stamina are rock solid too
I think his defense is very good - in the Hatton fight he took a lot of blows on his arms, because he was hit with the kitchen sink in the first four rounds, but stamina wise I think there are question marks - he was blowing a bit against Hatton around the 8th/9th round and crucially in the 11th, which cost him dearly He has decent power and fast combos, Berto can be a bit of a standing target and chin wise isn't as good as Hatton at 147 - Collazo hit flush about 25 times in the 12th yet there were no trips to the canvas
Please Beeston don't get me started on the Hatton fight......Collazo ****ing schooled him and you know it......I'm sure you would be tired too if you were being wrestled for 7 rounds.......please for the love of boxing:good I've been a Leeds fan for years:yep
I don't wish to get you started on the Hatton Collazo fight, but for the record I scored it 114-112 in favour of Ricky - basically the same as one of the judges but 10-8 against him in the 12th. Not many people admit to being a Leeds fan these days, praise to you!
It wasn't close buddy. He landed one good left str8 and was quickly raped afterwards. Now his fracture cost him to do better but berto is better than shane at this point of his career.
