Probably the best of the three young Cubans living and fighting in Cork, Ireland under the management of Gary Hyde, Luis Garcia (5-0) wastes no time and steps up in competition yet again. In fact, with Gamboa already being a bit ahead, Lara making noise, Perez and Acosta fighting regularly and Rigondeaux making his debut shortly, it's almost becoming a race between hot Cuban prospects who to move forward faster.

At 21, with only 5 pro fights, Luis Garcia makes his move on May 29, in Spain, challenging local hero Gabriel Campillo (17-2), the SMW EBU-EU champ. According to boxrec, that title will not be on the line, and the fight, scheduled for 8 rounds, will be at SMW. Campillo is also the Spanish champion at 175, and lost his only 2 outside of his country, so RESPECT to Garcia and Hyde for traveling to the opponent's backyard. Alexei Acosta also fights on the Spanish card.

The Super Middleweight division is already absolutely awesome, packed, full of talents and young guns from all over the world, but you don't want to overlook this young gun storming from the unknown to the undeniable at the SMW rankings.

Good test for a young fighter, great matchmaking by Hyde again.
Garcia is a bit special i've seen him three times and have been impressed each time.Really think he could be challenging for top honours at the end of next year.

Saw Luis in Cork, last month and the man is a beast, came out and bludgeoned his opponent like a man possessed, still a raw and a work in progress but i like Garcia.

For those that missed the fight.

Big step up for him after only 5 fights. But still it's good to see prospects matched like this. If they're good enough they shouldn't be waiting around.

    Great matchmaking,eh! I dont know!

Campillo is a teak tough cookie who beat Lolenga Mock in his last outing to a ring. He lost a mayority point decisioin to rising supermiddle talent Karo Murat in Murat's backyard.

I will take my hat off to him if he really beats Campillo!
    Honour where honour is due!

Nevertheless,I still think that he shouldnt be matched that early in his career with such a dangerous opponent.

    A very risky gamble,puca!

Campillo is for real. He is quite underrated. Very tough and dangerous fighter he is!
