I keep hearing this statement, but it's not true and it won't be true no matter how many times it is repeated. Anthony Joshua, not so long ago, offered him to challenge for the title. Some boxing fans have the memory of a goldfish.
I reckon he should have gone thru with that fight with Ustinov. This era is replete with HWs who missed/are missing their chance to generate an enduring legacy because of messing around/inactivity in their prime.
Offer to challenge him on 6 weeks notice? He was officially mandated to fight Joshua as far back as 2017 and he did not want to know In fact he personally wrote a letter to the WBO and begged them to remove Ortiz from mandatory position. So you don't come in here and talk about memories of goldfishes.
I couldn't pull up the video on this post but I went back and rewatched most of the first Wilder Ortiz fight. As much as I like Ortiz and dislike Wilder, I still think that Wilder is going to have no issues with him this time around. I'm predicting an early to mid KO win for Wilder.
Yes that was very strange to turn down a career defining fight and payday. Why the loyalty to Wilder and co?
Kinda like Stiverne 2.think you’re right?Wilder gonna be windmilling Ortiz from round one and he will catch him. Easy for us to laugh at Wilders technique but it must be horrible to face.
I have a 5 fight accumulator on, and Wilder beating Ortiz is the last win i need to cash in. I watched the last fight again, and based on what i watched Wilder got outboxed for a lot of the fight. Again his power was the only thing that saved him. He was bamboozled, fearful of the counter punching from ortiz, and has no real adaptability in his style throughout the fight. Based on the last fight alone, i am slightly worried for my bet coming in. Wilder seems to get confused vs high level boxers with a solid game plan. Ask yourself what happens if he doesn't or cant land clean.
Why do I need to ask myself that? He will eventually land, end of story. The slickest mover in the division got caught clean twice, and had to crawl back from the depths of the underworlds to make it back to planet earth, barclays arena, United States to finish the rest of the fight.
You can't compare footage of current Ortiz v the prime youthful one. Because when he was in his prime cameras hadn't been invented yet.
Ortiz was done years ago.... Good on him keeping in the gym but anyone who thinks he has a better chance now than before is a muppet. Christian Hammer ffs... Come on chaps, lets talk some sense If Wilder doesn't finish him in under 6 rounds then just stop holding that belt hostage already and fight a live body, this crap is getting old and Deontay is looking silly... the PBC suck donkey
