I just became aware of Ortiz; wow

I would easily place him mid top 10, given his impressive manner of winning against some decent to good opponents

He would be just about equally ranked with the likes of wilder and Joshua, had it not been for those easy-pickins belts those two have

As far as accomplishments, and impressive victories over valid opponents,, I would put Ortiz Joshua and wilder all about even

If he not avoided until 50 he could clean up the division. He has a tight defense and can hit like a truck.

I was once a big Ortiz guy, before the steroids. It is tough to say how good he is/can be, because:

    A) his two big wins are hard to gauge. Thompson is shotter than shot and Jennings is still a big X-factor whose most memorable moment was loss.

    B) He is a known steroids abuser, and it is hard to know how much of his ability is due to some kind of cheating.

    C) He is officially 37, looks about 45, and he ballooned to a career high 242 in his last. It is hard to say what his stamina is going to be once he gets someone he can't whack out.

If I had to call it, it would be...

    Fury
    Klitschko
    Povetkin
    Joshua
    Parker
    Ortiz
    Pulev
    Wilder
    Teper
    Takam

    Honorable mentions to

    Haye
    Browne
    Martin

To me behind fury. I lot is based on the eye test and his win over jennings.

No one wants to fight Ortiz... High risk - Low reward. He'll be avoided by top guys until he's shot.

I'm sure he is 37, he just has an old Cuban mans features that's all. I think he's a dark horse at number 5 or so.

I would love to see him against Haye, Wlad, Povetkin

And especially against wilder or Joshua as I think Ortiz would stand a good chance of beating both of those. Wilder he'd beat almost certainly

I also agree in that he needs better management and promotion. With his unknown status, he'd be a ---very-- high-risk, low reward award for these known names

Good fighter with brutal power. Not as old yet as some seem to think

He can beat a majority of the top 10 but he'll have a hard time getting the big fights.

Maybe, he is the best HW, we will know soon. In the worst case, he is top 7.

Where does he rank with the bodies? For me Ortiz needs to start showing up at heavyweight fights and just cause a scene. He is too easy to ignore.

He needs to make Sep. 17 fight with Ustinov happen. If it doesn't go ahead it puts his WBA status in limbo and that seems like his best path to a belt by a long way. Letting that fight slip by could be a terminal set back.

I still think he should fight Shannon Briggs as a keep busy, if Haye doesn't.

Yes Briggs would be a fantastic " introduction " fight for Ortiz

Get the Briggs mouth going to promote the fight and it could be a good opportunity for Ortiz

I have no problem saying he is top 5. I think he matches up well vs. every single person at the top of the HW division.
