    • Carter was ranked No. 3 at middleweight, and Rodriguez was ranked No. 3 at welterweight.
    • A crowd of 10,806 produced a gate of $44,780.
    • Rodriguez moved and jabbed while Carter chased. Rodriguez outboxed him throughout most of the bout.
    • Carter suffered a cut over his right eye in round three.
    • Carter landed substantial blows in rounds three and five.
    • Carter sent Rodriguez through the ropes with a right-left-right combination in the seventh round. Rodriguez appeared unhurt and rose at the count of eight. Carter later said, "I could see he wasn't hurt." It was the first knockdown of Rodriguez's career. "It had to happen some time," Rodriguez said. The two traded blows for the remainder of the round.
    • After a quiet round eight, Carter staggered Rodriguez in the ninth.
    • "He won the fight," Carter said afterwards. "But there ought to be a law against little men like him having arms that long."

Luis Manuel Rodriguez vs. Rubin Carter (2nd meeting)

1965-08-26 : Luis Rodriguez 150½ lbs beat Rubin Carter 155¾ lbs by UD in round 10 of 10
From The Associated Press, August 27, 1965:

Luis Rodriguez of Miami, Fla. scored a repeat victory over Rubin (Hurricane) Carter of Paterson N.J., the third ranking middleweight in the world, with a unanimous 10-round decision last night at the Olympic Auditorium.

There were no knockdowns but the heavy-hitting Carter caught Rodriguez coming in with a solid right to the jaw in the fourth round.

The Cuban exile's knees buckled and he fell into a clinch to escape further damage.

Carter belted Rodriguez with another right smash late in the 10th, but could not follow up the advantage as Luis again clinched.

Rodriguez and his familiar jab-and-run tactics were too frustrating for Carter to solve, and in the later rounds Rodriguez opened up with a few rights to the head in a show of abandon.

Carter actually landed only four clean rights, all to the jaw, during the evening. One came in the third, the big one in the fourth, a short punch in the seventh and the final in the 10th.

    Curtis Cokes is underrated.

    Rodriguez gets his due IMO.
