A very obscure fighter and stylish technician from Colombia. Luis Mendoza was a very crafty fighter known for his defense, counterpunching, and all round skills. He was world champion at Super Bantamweight and made 4 defenses before losing it to Raul Perez. He also fought the likes of Juan Jose Estrada, Ruben Dario Palacio, Fabrice Benichou, Visan Thummong, Wilfredo Vazquez, Jose Sanabria, Eloy Rojas, Regilio Turr, and Freddie Norwood. Mendoza's fights with Raul Perez and Ericel Nucamendi are also very nice skillfully fought matches for the purists, especially the Perez fight. For some odd reason the crowd in both those fights were booing in the first half despite both guys throwing punches with good exchanges. Mendoza's defense is impressive to watch, especially when he marches forward and connects with sneaky counters. Very pleasing stylist to watch. Would like to see his available fight video against Wilfredo Vazquez.
I've not seen much of him but he gave a good account of himself against Jibaro. Certainly a good fighter
