Aguirre Hernández is forced to shell up early as Cota reaches in with some bombs. Aguirre Hernández returns fire with a 1-2 and then starts to dash side to side. Cota shrugs and goads him to stand his ground like a man. Wild exchange, Aguirre Hernández eating a right hand. Cota jabbing the body walking him down. Counter uppercut by Aguirre Hernández while rushing past Cota. Lead uppercut from miles away by Cota, sidestepped. Aguirre Hernández complains of a rabbit punch but the ref is letting them fight. Cota pouring it on, crowd getting riled up. 42 seconds left in the round. Aguirre Hernández is able to keep intelligently defending himself as the round winds down.

Aguirre Hernández is reduced to holding on the inside when he can, and desperate leaping gazelle hooks or evasive maneuvers on the outside. Cota just keeps pelting him with hard combinations to head & body.

I guess it was demoted to a 6-rounder. Both the onscreen graphic and BoxRec listed 8 rounds.

Scored a draw! Restless murmur of vague disapproval from the crowd; that's an extremely generous result for "Alegre", who in reality was lucky not to lose via TKO6. I had it a shutout for Cota; Riaño had it 59-55.

I favor the Mexican in the mid (if not early) rounds - Román isn't as dangerous as he was in his prime, but his form isn't as deteriorated IMO as the Colombian's. Escandón has stoppage losses in his last three outings, and in seven of his last nine over the last near-decade.

 

Get ready for a slobberknocked! My official prediction: Román KO3.

Román is stalking, thumping the chest of Escandón with a heavy jab. Scooping right on the body from Román and Escandón ties up to escape the ropes. Jabs traded, Escandón in retreat. MR tossing light jabs in bunches up high and then plugging a hard right downstairs. Escandón keeps getting walked into corners while circling and has to dive in low to clinch and reset.
