Delboy is a gatekeeper, and he'd ruin Ortiz right now.

Ortiz was never special, now he's ancient and not special - he badly needs to retire before he gets hurt.

Since what we have seen today, any decent (not excelent, just decent) puncher will put him to sleep if he can connect clean in early rounds. He is pretty much the definiton of shot. Power does not disappear when a fighter is shot, though, as we have witnessed today, but probably he will change health for dollars from now on, and in a very expensive way. I dont like it.

Ortiz literally just throws a 1-2 then a right hook to counter a disengage. He has good timing but it takes more than timing to be a good boxer.

Parker has faster hands, better defense, and a MUCH better chin than Martin. Chisora actually has some head movement. Chisora was landing more jabs on a retreating Usyk than Ortiz was landing on Martin, think about that for a second. Chisora covers FAR more ground than cement feet Ortiz. Chisoras shifting and lunging hooks catch a lot of fighters off guard where they find themselves pinned to the ropes. And unlike Ortiz, Chisora doesn't plod forward waiting to catch somebody with a good shot before he lets his combinations go.

He was only ever a gatekeeper, doesn't have the resume to claim he was ever more than that.

If he fights on, he'd be the whipping boy for the current crop of gatekeepers or the better prospects.

Flip Hamburger needs to stop fighting guys with made-up records from obscure former Russian republics and step it up against some real heavyweights. He should be past the Marko Polo and Emil Arithmetic guys he's been fighting lately.

Ortiz is well past his best and retiring would be a good option for him. You could say the same for Chisora as well. Both of them can still compete with the fringe contenders though.

Chisora has a better resume than Ortiz.

Ortiz is far more physically declined than Chisora right now.

Seriously? I don't think Ortiz would've lasted 3 rounds if he was in with Delboy tonight.

He's earned an IBF shot so he should get it.

I remember Evander Holyfield looking like he was completely done vs. Bobby Czyz and next time out he's knocking out Mike Tyson.

We don't know that Ortiz doesn't have another good outing or two in him and can't have a great training camp and look better than tonight. And he's still got a puncher's chance with anyone (not to mention skill and the fact that he's a southpaw, which gives a lot of guys fits).

Chisora was a bad style match up for Usyk. Against Parker, Chisora was dominated in the second fight. I'd like to see this fight. I prefer Ortiz to Chisora easily stylewise but Chisora did look much more sturdy than Ortiz.

Nah, ortiz has done way more than that. He was doubling the jab properly. Setting his left hand properly. Cutting the ring decently (nothing mindblowing, but good enough). The only thing I missed was a more active right hook, but he did very well. He is CLEARLY a very good fighter who knows his job very very very well. And I bet he would be a hell of a trainer too, that's how obvious it is that he knows his job.

You know which heavyweight's stock actually went up the most from this card, in a weird twist?

    Criștian Ciocan.

    Hear me out.

He came in on 4 days' notice, went in with a guy riding a boatload of hype (basically undergoing a Highlander style quickening from snatching the zero from hype job Ajagba), toughed it out coming forward most of the way and took nine rounds and change to get dropped.

    On top of which...

Ortíz, shot to hell, demonstrates his power with a one shot come from behind KO against Charles Martin, giving him 28 kayos in 33 career wins. You know who not only went ten but is the ONLY man to last the distance with Ortíz without getting knocked down once? That's right, baby - the damn Hammer.

If you look at his stoppage losses, three were corner retirements or injury. His only time being knocked out cleanly was versus Wach, in a fight he was actually winning but had started to gas, taking a pair of MASSIVE bombs and then whacking the back of his own head on the canvas when he fell so that even if he might have recovered from the punches themselves, he was done for.

He isn't fleet of hand or feet, and wasn't even in his prime. His skillset is mediocre, as is his power. But that ol' Romanian pudge is tough as hell. Put some respeck on his name. :deal:

Chisora can (see Parker) but Ortiz? He only ever fought one contender and got knocked out both times by him.

Any remotely fringe contender would annihilate Ortiz now.
