Undefeated Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz (27-0, 23 KOs) is hungry to get back in the ring.

The boxer is about to conclude the last round of tests ordered by the World Boxing Council to verify the state of his health. Ortiz continues training with an eye on staging his next fight in the first half of 2018.

The Cuban boxer has not been suspended by the WBC nor removed from their rankings - and his team is hoping that a showdown with WBC champion Deontay Wilder can be finalized in the future.

The Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency [VADA], which performs testing for the WBC’s “Clean Boxing Program,” informed the sanctioning body that Ortiz tested positive for hlorothiazide and hydrochlorothiazide in a urine test taken September 22.

Ortiz was pulled from the fight and replaced by Bermane Stiverne, who is the WBC's mandatory challenger.

The boxer and his handlers are standing firm - that his prescribed medication for high blood pressure was the root cause of the failed VADA test. The medication does contain the substances in question, but his test failure resulted from not advising VADA that he was prescribed to take the medication.

At the moment, the WBC has taken no action against Ortiz.

"There has never been a mention here of the word suspension on the part of the WBC," said Jay Jimenez, Ortiz's manager, to George Ebro. "It has been clearly proven that Luis was on medical prescription and VADA has at no time spoken of doping. We do not see why he should stop his career. "

However, *******.com reported last week that the World Boxing Association has placed Ortiz on suspension and removed the boxer from his mandatory position to world champion Anthony Joshua.

The suspension and removal from the mandatory position is only temporary, while the sanctioning body conducts their own investigation on the matter and issues a resolution. The WBA also work with VADA.

"Our lawyers have sent Luis's medical tests to WBA, and everything related to the case, including documents to display the way the WBC has treated him," Jimenez added. "It would be very unfair for the WBA to make such a drastic decision with our boxer.'

"We are going to move forward and if it won't be with the WBA, then we will work with the other agencies. As soon as the final results of the medical tests are over, we will start working on the next fight."

I really dont believe King Kong's health was in jeopardy. So either he was juicing and they didnt catch him ( my guess) or something weird happened.

He needs to get another mandatory spot. Long time for such a old fighter.

The WBC conveniently forgot he was under a doctors care. That's why the WBC haven't insta banned him and to sweep it under the rug they will reinstate him after their honest due diligence. Its ironic... due diligence after acting like they had no clue.

Its the weirdest" PED" case I heard in a long while and there have been some in the last year.
Also I think its important to remember the Salido vs Vargas case, where Vargas was caught with something real, dont remember what exactly. And the WBC ruled that the fight can go on but Vargas has to test more often.

Same with my boy Stiverne, gets popped vs Povetkin, the WBC lets the fight go on, but when the Russian gets popped, fight gets canceled and Povetkin gets crucified.

The protection Wilder gets from the WBC has reached levels I've never seen before.

And BTW, Bermane is on record saying he always trained for Wilder because he was sure Wilder vs Ortiz wouldnt happen.
Apparently he told his whole team that the main event wont happen and that Wilder is the target.

You mean Ortiz’s team conveniently forgot to disclose his alleged “doctor’s note.”

They released a video with a doctor saying he had a life-threatening condition.

If his very life is at stake and no other medicine that does not contain banned substances can keep him off a respirator, he should retire and be thankful that he’s still alive.

I don't agree with this comeback. Ortiz's life is in grave danger per his doctors recorded testimony and I wouldn't want his life to be left to another boxers hands.

Yes this is more like it,so when we go to the docs and they ask want meds’ are we on do we just not divulge the info?
Sorry but I’m not buying it,Ortiz has blown his career,on the verge of really making it and they fall for what Wilders team knew about em it would seem.
Id heard that Wilder has his team pay for more stringent testing, only thing is that Wilder doesn’t seem to understand is that he could go down in history as the only HW champ never to have fought anyone, and let’s be honest here all this drug thing is just BS anyway as he’s ready to face Stiverne who tested positive not long ago,it’s all about avoiding those at the top and I guarantee you he will fight AJ wether he tests positive or not lol.

Wilder is such a laughing stock at the mo,in a recent vid Eddie Hearn when told about Wilder wanting 7mill for Whyte,Hearn said I.D like an 11 inch ***** but it’s never gonna happen lol

VADA and the WBC will always protect Wilder. Wilder's fight with Ortiz was never intended to go on, Ortiz was framed because he was a threat. Povetkon was cleared by VADA, but the WBC still would not allow Povetkin to knock Wilder out! This appeared to have been planned. All of Wilder's winos from the alley never tested positive for anything because they were not a threat! Watch out, all fighter's who are a threat to Wilder, you will probably be framed, Wilder is the most protected fighter in history!

Damn those stories around WBC , Wilder and VADA are so fishy... First Wilder catches the plane to Europe , Povetkin gets banned for 0,0000001 substance in his blood. The fight got cancelled. Then Povetkin is willing to fight Stiverne , Stiverne gets banned. Ortiz obviously around 50+ years old gets a title shot... Gets banned, and Wilder ends up with Stiverne II. No one wants to sell this **** show and no one wants to see a rematch. Wilder got like 6 fights already without facing a mandatory. And the most curious thing is that the fighters he fought are getting on the boxing market as the so called "ex title contenders" which boosts their resume. No one that is a non hardcore fan had heard of Szpillka or Molina, and then Molina a super overrated fighter gets another title fight against Joshua. I am pretty sure Charles Martin is next for Wilder , selling this fight as the clash of the champions.

Yes, the evidence is clear. Anyone who is a threat will get framed, but not one of Wilder's winos from the alley has ever been framed because they are not a threat!

Povetkin and Ortiz have been caught in other fights doing PED's. Nothing do with Deontay, he's the victim in all this.
