this is interesting now. does he get stripped? do they go to purse bid. they say ortiz is supposedly trying to get out of contract with golden boy on fight news
oquendo is next on the list. but i think hes obliged to fight the winner of fury-wlad. haye is after oquendo on the wba list
Isn't Oquendo suppose to fight Chagaev for the WBA strap? If Lucas Browne got stripped what exactly happens to the WBA belt? Does it go back Chubby Chagaev?
chaggy is gone. he retired browne lost it due to his positive drug test oquendo is suppose to fight the winner of wlad-fury im thinking ustinov will fight someone else for the interim belt either oquendo or haye
What a cluster****. And they said heavyweight division is coming back lol Jennings lost 2 in a row, Fury-Wlad postponed, Wilder got retired by Arreola and now 2 old guys in Ortiz and Ustinov decide to **** around.
WTF. OK, this is messed up - I really assumed Ortiz would just go in, deal with him and move on UNLESS there is some cunning gameplan not yet revealed.
Ortiz ducking Ustinov, I'm sure he'll have his excuses. Should've just beat Ustinov then make his move.
This turns everything on it's head, as Ortiz is often referred to as the one everyone in the division doesn't want to fight. WBA Tournament (so far) Mini tourn announced with the crazy idea that the winner of Wlad/Fury 2 have to qualify for the final against the Browne vs Chagaev and then Fres fight. Browne upsets Chagaev before getting water spiked (Yes, even though he is an Aussie Boofhead I reckon he was spiked). Chagaev gets his belt taken off him as he now retires, and doesn't answer his phone. Ortiz and Ustinov gets pushed back, and now Ortiz is not signing a contract. David Haye gets ranked in the WBA for beating up Mr Potato Head and his brother Sam Spud. <--Watch this dude slime his way into the "tournament". Wlad/Fury 2 being held up over firstly the venue, then Fury's ankle (which was eggplant purple and would need a few months to heal...which is about right for a really bad sprain). Fres Oquendo who was relevant in the division a decade ago is sitting on his but watching this debarkle unfold. Has anyone from the WBA with any testicles come out yet and spoken about this situation? If I was part of the team putting this mini tournament together I would be bloody embarrassed.
Wow. Weird. I know he's old and probably doesn't want to waste his time, but I thought this was leading up to a fight against the WBA super holder (ie, Wlad-Fury winner).
Oh well. Ortiz, Ustinov, Oquengo and Browne - literally everybody in the WBA title picture - can all join Chagaev in retirement and I wouldn't give a ****. None of them make the division any more exciting. Just forget the WBA title, when it comes to heavyweight.
Eh, he's alright. He's also 37 - and doesn't have any more short-term upside than guys like Parker or Joseph, who can actually factor into the division's title picture for more than just a couple of years before shuffling off into retirement. He turned pro in 2010 and had all that unused time if he wanted to make a splash, but didn't step up to anybody with a pulse until Jennings, nine months ago. Consider me underwhelmed and not exactly broken up about the idea of him canceling fights and disappearing from the scene.
