I mean I knew the hate for Wilder was real and ridiculously overstated on ESB but looking at the amount of hypocrisy spewing out of this site now that he’s signed to fight a legit top contender and top heavyweight is phenomenally hilarious.

I have little respect and no tolerance for fraud posters.

Ortiz had a choice to fight either Wilder or Joshua after Pulev.

Ortiz chose to fight Wilder. He was GUARANTEED a shot at Joshua as his Mando but gave that up pursuing Wilder.

Even with a loss it really probably doesn't change Ortiz rankings BC Joshua, Wilder , Ortiz will still be considered the top 3 guys in 2018.

They are the top guys with the rest still a bit green not including Povetkin and Haye who I'm assuming will defeat Bellew.

Fighters are going to catch up to a Wilder and Ortiz anyway in 2019.

I'm assuming Joshua hands Wilder a loss , Ortiz is dangerous for most guys outside Joshua in these years. I think Miller and Whyte will continue winning.

One thing Joshua and Ortiz have in common they are the only two fighters that dominate their fights to the point that can't be questioned , they have not remotely showed they will be easy to defeat.

If KLITCHKO was around he would be the number two HW so a competitive fight with him is not a minus, unlike Wilders less than stellar performance s against mediocre competition .

Ortiz is a legit win and a win Joshua should have got but the guy is dumb and missed out on a better pay day.

It is not at all illegitimate to suggest that Ortiz is a) very overrated; and b) at minimum, pushing 40. Like Stiverne, he will be shown to have been grossly over-estimated by (some) boxing fans.

It's like these idiots don't grasp the concept of aging. Povetkin is almost 40, Ortiz is even older and miraculously Wilder is just now starting to find his balls to face them.
It's ok Deontay, you will have to deal with Joshua, Parker, Joyce, Kuzmin, Dychko and Hrgovic sooner or later.

Only when he fights Wilder. When AJ fights him a year and a half from now he will be prime and the best heavyweight win in years.

If Anthony Joshua was to knock out Ortiz tomorrow it would be in his top 3 wins and id give him credit for it, the same too Wilder, Ortiz is unbeaten, he is a threat even as hes ageing. I do think Ortiz troubles Wilder and i wouldnt be surprised if the upset occurred

    i rate ortiz
i give deontay plaudits for fighting him

he does not have to but he is

even if you dont like wilder this is a fight v ortiz where he is taking a risk for no extra money / no big prestiege / putting a big money fight v joshua at risk .

ortiz when he first fought for cuba in amatuer contests state he was 23
sounds right for a cuban heavy with others in front of him.

how old is he/ dont know
what i do know is what i see with my own eyes and my own experience of watching boxing .

he is a danger to wilder/ortiz/parker the 3 current champs more than anyone else in the division

that wilder is taking him voluntary is a surprise to me/ if i was wilders promoter i would not him anywhere near ortiz without it being a mandatory

    ortiz brings no fanbase
    no tv money
does not communicate in english to build up a fight.

what ortiz does and does not bring to the table boxing wise

    plus
big man /6.4 /and stocky barrel chest build .
    in decent shape
going by his amatuer fights never stopped bar the old wide points system he has a sturdy chin
pro fights have been easy for him v non punchers
best counter puncher maybe with joshua
good power in variety of shots
    sees the openings very well
boxes very technically correct when throwing power punches bar overhand right.
nice and chrisp shots on the inside

    minus points
cannot fight that well going forward
    slow footspeed
average handspeed / especially on the outside v a taller man v wilder where he has to punch up
    one paced in fights
    age ?

IMO wilder fights like he has been doing winging his shots and leaping in and pulling out with his hands down ortiz will time him again and again and down will go wilder

this is a fight he has to box using his brain and a gameplan
i think he has the abilty to do this
/ keep it long/use a fast jab/ use the straight right only / no crazy looping shots.

but mentally i dont think this current version of wilder has it in him to bix 12 disciplined rounds
too many easy opponents hs made him to sloppy.

a fight i really want to see and will really look forward to
this is the **** or get off the pot fight i for one congratuate wilder for taking it.

    his first genuine 50/50 fight.

And if Wilder came out and said he wouldn't fight Ortiz due to his age, you would use that as a reason to criticize him further! While your hero hasn't fought in over 2 years because he's "mentally" impaired. LOL

They have to do it. Wilder is a legitimate threat. Like Pacs fans they will all fall and look to Dubois after Wilder kos the stiff Joshua.

I don't think anyone should ever be favored to easily KO Ortiz, but if there is a HW out there that has a better shot of doing it than any others it's Wilder and then Joshua. Outside of those two, I don't think there is a single HW that would be favored to KO Ortiz.
