Or ... you could just wait to hear what the actual number was instead of making up numbers yourself?

No one mentioned as a replacement opponent has ever said what they were offered.

Maybe they could dig up Alexander Brand and give him 30000 dollars ...

Well this post is a big surprise.

Ortiz has just said he wasn't offered enough money without being willing to say what the amount is. Curious.

I'd wager it's because its considerably more than he got for the Wilder fight and all this talk of low ball offers would look ridiculous in light of that fact.

Unlikely he get at shot at Joshua now at his age which is no doubt a huge relief to Wilder fans everywhere who seemed in a genuine panic the fight might get made with Joshua then dragging the bogeyman out from under the bed and making lighter work of him than Wilder did.

I can understand Whyte saying lowball, he got paid 5 million for a non title fight....

    But ORTIZ???? 500K OFF Wilder.

Even 1 Million would be great for him. He could buy so much prune juice with that money, what a fool....

It's obviously a case of a percentage split rather than what is on offer.... PBC ain't happy with fixed fees, they like to know whats up for grabs and choose the size of their slice.

Brainwashed idiots... shame because Ortiz wont get this chance again.... probs being lied to by his handlers.

    its my guess
i was surprised by how much miller was making
joshua opponents sually make career largest purses

i think maybe only povetkin who i think earned more v klitchko than he did v joshua $7.5 to $8 million he earned v joshua plus russian tv money as well

    martin was about $5 million
molina and breazeale not sure never looked it up
    klitchko earned about $18 million
takam i think got $1.5 as a short notice stand in for pulev

based on these numbers i was making my ortiz estimate and to ortiz standing in top 5

You're making those estimates under the assumption that Hearn wanted the fight to get made, which is problematic.

How do people think the fighters are the problem, when they all say the same thing about Hearn? A career high for them coulf also be a lowball offer in terms of fighting Joshua. The 2 don’t have to be independent of one another.

its not as if hearn is a skinflint
many of wilders opponents got paid under 100k

say what you want about hearn and i am not a fan of his personality he seems narcisstic but he pays joshua opponents big money

and if hearn did not want an ortiz fight as an opponent i dont understand why he sent ortiz a cash offer

Hearn didn’t seem keen on Ortiz in his interview with Boxing News Tv. Says it’s hard to fight a slippery southpaw at six week notice when AJ has been sparring orthodox fighters. He claims Ortiz would have the advantage as he’s used to training for guys like Joshua.

That interview is the smoking gun that Ortiz is not ducking.

Edit - let me add the interview here. Watch from 6.45min to 8:15min about Ortiz.

I'd be very surprised if Luis 'Hearn never sent us a contract for an offer we'd rejected' Ortiz ever gives a actual number of what he was offered for fear of the ridicule he'd get for rejecting a career high purse at his age and having done little to deserve another shot at the heavyweight crown since his loss to Wilder.

Hearn has a history of using Ortiz's name for publicity. Ortiz appears to have something decent worked out with PBC, so Hearn likely did not compete with the offer. Of course, it's not all out there yet.

I'm getting leery of the list of possible opponents Hearn is throwing out there. It almost reads like he's trying to cover his ass before signing up a WBA fallboy (Charr or Bryan). I have tickets and I'll be on the phone with Visa right away if either of them gets the call.
