Luis Ortiz is probably the #2 or #3 at HW right now

Ortiz resume isn't exactly great is it? Only notable wins are aginst Jennings and Hammer.

Ruiz, AJ, Whyte, Povetkin, Parker, Wilder, Hunter and Pulev all have more impressive resumes.

I would back younger HWs in Hrgovic and Dubois and CWs Usyk and Gassiev in fight against Ortiz too.

His denture...is shaky. Did you see when he was KOed he was trying to fix it ? Hes old.. but I think he and Povetkin can still kick some more ass

Ortiz slides out of top 5 at least after last night.
This dude keeps hanging high in most people's rankings for beating Jennings years ago, who must be an ATG by now.

His age is showing. Good skills and good overall fighter but he’s like a big version of Khan. Looks dominant until he gets KOd. He needs to take that money he made and find a nice place to retire. No way is this guy top five, not even close. I would expect him to do even worse against his next top opponent. Boxers typically don’t improve after 40 and the rate of decline a usually pretty steep.

I give Wilder credit for the victory. The kind of credit you give a fighter for beating a 40 year old man with diminished skills and punch resistance. Wilder fans celebrate like he just best prime Ali.

Pure speculation. Ortiz hasn't fought quality opposition outside of Wilder to get such praise. It's like, he looks okay with the eyeball test, but doesn't have the resume. He hasn't fought Parker, Chisora, Whyte, Fury, Ruiz etc. He fights bums, and then loses to Wilder, fights more bums and then loses to Wilder. You can't go off of that.

Ortiz while having a bit of a wallop isn't really what i'd call a dangerous opponent, hes just a southpaw with moderate skills, boogeyman title is stupid !

Excellent points. The guy putting Ortiz at 2 or 3 is smoking crack. He’s a solid fighter but we’ve only seen him fight bums before and in between the wilder fights. And he’s not getting any younger.

That right hand Wilder landed was a thing of beauty. I still don’t understand how Ortiz didn’t see it coming. Not much if a set up, lazy left jab and boom. Any top fighter avoids that shot unless Ortiz was just too tired and old at that stage. The shot was deadly and landed on the button. This is why Wilder is an interesting fighter and is always in a fight. He’s got the equalizer.

Ortiz blocked it well up to that point. He got a little too loose and complacent. Wilder hadn't seemed to fire any real missiles yet. He was more laid back and seemed to be waiting. That one, had some steam on it. At Ortiz's age, he doesn't seem to take the best punch either. Even against hard hitters, guys usually seem to take punches to the forehead well. Ortiz, not so much.

Wow another thread over rating ortiz to comical levels. Over rated as a boxer and puncher, barely landed anything on each other the entire fight and it was fought at a geriatric pace.

Wilder clearly hits hard, but ortiz has a glass jaw considering how little he was hit.

Yeah, I'd put Ortiz at number two right now and Christian Hammer at three. Maybe Kauffman at four, though Razvan Cojanu's up there as well.

    Heavyweight division's really heating up.

How can a 50 year old juicer with high blood pressure be a #2 HW? Cos he outboxed Wilder? Who doesn't?
