If you are taking something prescribed for a legitimate reason and you are still using masking agents, you are dumb and deserve to lose the opportunity.

So, let's give "King Kong" more credit than that, and admit he tried to cheat--just like "Sasha." These cats FEAR Deontay!:sisi1

For all we know, Ortiz's medication could be for erectile dysfunction. Common for men 50 & up...

We'll see how it plays out. Just because a doctor prescribes it doesn't mean he's allowed to use it. Otherwise every athlete would have their dirty doctor saying "The poor man needs his steroids for medical reasons."

That's why there's a banned substance list. There are other blood pressure medications that are legal that could have been prescribed instead. It's up to the athlete to provide his doctors with the list so they can work around it.

If he's so deathly ill that he needs banned substances for blood pressure, probably should be hospitalized instead of allowed into the ring.

Hydrochlorothiazide and chlorothiazide are both diuretics. Ortiz is going to have a hard time justifying taking those.

Ortiz should've just waited for Joshua.
This is going to make a lot fighters go after Joshua and Parker instead.

I'm a bit surprised that an elite fighter like Ortiz would use an over the counter diuretic though. Hydrochlorathiazide has a long half life, which has is why he got caught. His team must be on a budget.

If dope smoking, woman beating Wilder tries to take the high ground and paint himself as some kind of angel he will just embarrass himself. But brace yourselves for a flood of incoherent bomb squad tweets on this topic.

Lol have you heard of Bradley Wiggins and Chris froome? They had a list of medications as long as your arm that were prescribed by doctors before the Olympics they have to declare to get exemptions.

I'd say every Olympic athlete all had lists of perscibed medications that are actually banned as long as your arm.

My personal view is that you shouldn't be allowed use this blood pressure medication . if you are supposed to be an elite athlete and you have blood pressure issues its a joke. I mean you shouldn't be declared fit to fight, a few punches to your kidneys and a bit of damage and your life is at risk if you really have blood pressure issues.

Same with testosterone replacement therapy which fighters like Peterson used and Hopkins, they are allowed but it is cheating.

Heck why should any steroid be banned at that rate? Can I fighter get a Tue to use anabolic steroids because he doesn't punch hard enough or isn't strong enough?.

Its all nonsense and corruption imo.

And you can bet wilder also has a list of medications he takes which he has to declare to vada which he gets a doctor to sign off on.
    Every fighter does

Are you suggesting Ortiz declared this medication and got a TUE? Because that doesn't seem to be the case.

VADA would have told him to find blood pressure medication that doesn't include PEDs or masking agents.

Poor man needs to be forced to retire to focus on his failing health with these blood pressure issues.
