And his reflexes are not so good now. Time for the old warrior to retire.

I don't want to see the old man get hurt again.

Wasn't an especially hard punch? Says who? The fact remains he landed more than fury did

I don't know about critisizing the man on his punch resistance from the KO Wilder put on him. I don't think too many heavyweights in the history could have taken that shot and not be affected.

''The fact remains he landed more than fury did''

Wilder's face was obviously marked up and swollen after the Fury fight. Wilder also got clearly rocked/hurt in the last round. Ortiz landed very little clean to the head in the second fight.

He could still eke out a living beating gatekeepers and fringe contenders, but...

In the hurt business, especially at heavyweight, if you're not going to be getting maxed-out paydays (and he blew any chance of that in the future last night with his lapse in concentration, ruining what could have been a legacy-altering upset if he just cloned his efforts in the first six rounds over the second half and maintained that same carefulness) - why bother? Too much risk for too little reward, at his age.

Boxing is a young man's sport, it's for people under 40.

I'm saying that as someone who is just a few months away from my own 40th birthday.

You age a month a day when you get to Ortiz's age. Imagine that was a prime or close to prime Ortiz in there against Bootleg Dorticos and he was never anything special even back in that age. Or what about if he was still on his PEDs? It would be carnage city.

Yup. Ortiz was always an overrated geriatric mirage, but his punch resistance now seems to have abandoned him. That old mandible is getting shaky!

Not sure we can blame age for his loss but defo is past prime, even if we assume his age is 40.

pack it in. call it a day. don't risk your health. the head is not a good place to be absorbing damage. if I had the money he has now I would be gone.

I wonder if losing all that weight affected his punch resistance

George Foreman, Oliver McCall, David Tua, George Chuvalo. Evander Holyfield, Ike Ibeabuchi ect would of walked though anything Wilder could dish out. Ortiz can't take a punch.
