Luis Ortiz is a 6'4 36 year old Heavyweight with a 22-0 19 KO's 2 NC's record. Born in Camaguey, Cuba and fighting out of Miami, Florida. Luis Ortiz a southpaw was an amateur star in Cuba with a 343-19 record, he waited a hell of a long time to finally turn pro (like a lot of Cubans) at the ripe old age of 31 but since he has he's made quick work of the majority of his opponents, usually by knocking them the F out, including past prime versions of Monte Barrett and Zack Page, in reality most of his opponents haven't been very good and the one very impressive performance his KO1 of Lateef Kayode was overturned due to a positive test for PED's after the fight, so its hard to assess just how good he really is. He's very skilled from his days in the Cuban amateur system. He takes his time and fights in a very methodical but quick fashion picking his opponents apart and getting the KO, but who truly knows how good he'll perform against a top tier fighter at Heavyweight and clean, let's hope for the best because he's entertaining to watch and has seemingly legit power, he has very fast hands and good combination punching and since he signed with Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar wants to make him a big star, possibly on the undercard of GGG-Lemieux, although he has some interesting nicknames that most Americans will find either offensive or strange, he calls himself The Real King Kong and has called himself The Mercedez. So if you like your Heavyweights big, burly, vicious, mean and very badass well..... Check Him Out.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

When KINGPIN fought Charles Davis the 2nd time, this time in North Carolina, there were talks of a Luis Ortiz vs Kevin Johnson match, and I will admit in my stupidity I thought of the Luis Ortiz that lost to Sweet Pea in the Olympics in 1984...!!!

IIRC Ortiz was coming off a victory over Charles Davis when we fought Davis...!!!

I was big on this guy until I found out he was a steroids cheat. If I was Wlad, Povetkin, Wilder or Chagaev, I would make clear that I will not fight him under ANY circumstances.

I hope Ortiz leave the WBA track. No way he gonna get a shot at Chagaev.

Too bad the Stiverne fight fell out. It'd be a pretty good fight. They could at least find a replacement slightly competitive.

Vidondo is a lousy matchup. Ortiz has to end it in 2 rds or it's gonna be bad on him.

We still haven't seen Ortiz in a good fight, I hope they are already searching for it and for a soon fight.
