Ortiz is one of those highly skilled guys that flies under the radar. I'd love to see him against heavies with vocal fans/ haters like Fury, Klitschko, Joshua, or Wilder.
I won't be surprised if Ustinov wins. Luis Ortiz is probably the most overrated heavyweight at the moment. Ortiz took PEDs before challenging Lateef Kayode (a cruiserweight) for the vacant WBA belt. After his suspension, he fought Matias Vidondo (whoever the hell that is - I saw the fight and I still don't know who he is) for the vacant WBA title again. Kayode and Vidondo might be the two worst heavyweights to ever challenge for a heavyweight title. Ever. Jean Pierre Coopman beats them both. Then Ortiz fought Bryant Jennings, who was coming off a virtual shut out loss to Wlad. Then Ortiz fought a nearly 50 year old Tony Thompson, who was coming off a loss to Malik Scott. Ustinov would've beaten all those guys, too. Ustinov (who will be 40 this year) isn't great. But he is big and strong enough, and throws enough punches, to give Ortiz the first test in his pro career.
Disagree here Jennings would stop Ustinov and i think old Tony Thompson and Scott would beat Ustinov on points
Tony Thompson was totally shot and doesn't beat anyone on points. Scott has to have everything go exactly right or he quits. (After winning every round, he nearly quit against Thompson after Tony landed one hard punch.) Jennings hasn't won a fight in two years. And he was barely winning the ones he did two years ago. Jennings made a nice run about four years ago on NBC Sports against a bunch of journeymen. He has never looked good after he stepped up. Jennings "looks" like he should be good. But there's nothing there. Ustinov will be Ortiz's toughest fight. And if Ortiz was cheating when faced with a cruiser, they'd better pay close attention to him fighting a guy much larger than him.
Ortiz should toy with him a bit. I fully expect Ortiz to finally get his title shot when he's in his early-mid-40's coming off his first loss.
