At least Ortiz is staying active, though at 1,000 years old I'm not sure he has time for these type of fights.
Garbage fight. Ortiz must be done. Only taking easy fights until he can get an undeserved rematch with Wilder. (Just like Stiverne did)
I would be extremely impressed if Ortiz blasts out Hammer. He’s better than he seems and is more than good enough to expose anyone who isn’t legitimate top 30 material. He also knows when he’s outclassed and will do everything he can to survive as we saw against Povetkin. Predicting a wide UD for Ortiz, maybe with Hammer winning 2-3 rounds.
Stiverne was a fill-in for Ortiz himself. Not a good fight, but Hamer has only lost to Poverkin and Fury since hitting his prime.
Has grandpa Ortiz got time for this low level fight? Already one foot in the pension home, and he's wasting his time with this? Will be interesting to see who Haymon gives the incredible Joe Joyce to fight . Probably Travis Kauffman or a rough sleeper on the streets?
Hammer’s better than Kauffman but I agree that he doesn’t really have time for this. His style ages well, but I doubt he has any more than another year at his current level. Hopefully he gets one more big fight after he goes through Hammer.
Hammer got five rounds in him max.I get it that Ortiz is a risk for someone like Joyce but the rewards are huge if you win,AJ did it with Wlad and Fury took a risk with Wilder.
Hammer is not as bad as people seem to think he is, he's not elite but he's no push-over. It's a nice win for Ortiz to head back into the mix at the top when the likes of AJ etc are NOT going to touch him... he really has to get himself into a mandatory position and I am guessing that's the strategy here
