And yet it's Kownacki of all the Haymon heavyweights who is being groomed as the next big name being given shots at other Haymon heavies like Szpilka, Martin and soon Washington, while Ortiz is fighting nobodies like Cojanu and Kaufmann.

Haymon is no fool, he knows Ortiz is old and will never be a draw and so is basically not bothered in moving his career forward. If Haymon threw his money and influence behind Ortiz he could get him better fights or match him up more favourably against other Haymon heavies but he doesn't.

When you've been around as long as he has you should have dirt on everyone. He should go to the Catholic Church and threaten to reveal the location of Jesus's body unless they pressurize Joshua into taking the fight.

I’m not actually sure if Hammer is worse than Chisora.

Haymon has no control over anyone else except Wilder at the upper levels of HW (and they already fought).
Without a belt, Ortiz is de-clawed, he can't force anything, and he's decent enough of a threat for low money
he's not even worth it for up and comers. *shrugs* .

He should go for one of the eleven WBA belts or WBC international,
intercontinental ICBM straps to try to force a situation otherwise he's outta luck.

Im not selling him short. Wach beat Teper, and a shot Helenuis Koed Teper with a jab. Hammer is about the same level as Teper, without the power. Wallisch? Its easy to be undefeated when your record is more padded than Hillary Clintons underwear. Nope, I stand by my comment. Washington, Adamek, Duhuapas and Dinu all beat Hammer. Hammer cant handle anyone who moves their feet or has solid boxing skills. I agree though, hes a tough fighter and a good workout, but this is typical of an aging fighter like Ortiz on the downslide trying to hang around for one more payday. In hindsight, Helenuis or Wach would have been much better opponents, but cant have the old man in competitive fights that enter the later rounds against a durable fighter like Wach or rangy/dangerous boxer like Helenuis now can we.

Joyce just signed to fight Stiverne. He probably didn't want it.

Fury schooled him with out really training as a stay busy fight. Fury knocked him down once and made Hammer quit on his stool..

It was hardly a tough fight for Fury...

Ok it's a decent enough matchup, so I don't want to complain too much.

But I want to bring up one thing: The winner of this fight, what has he proven? If Hammer wins, he beat an overrated old man who never beat anyone. If Ortiz wins, hes so old he's not a credible challenger but who's simply looking for that one big retirement payday.

Yeah Fury was on a different level. Hammer did come to fight but was horribly undersized and outclassed by a guy who treated the fight like a live sparring session.

The fight was ruled no contest as Fury was tested positive for PEDs. All the "schooling" doesn't really count when you're a PED cheat.

It ended up counting as a win for Fury didn't it?

Dec 13, 2017 - Fury's win against Christian Hammer, from February 2015, has been officially overturned to a 'no contest' as part of the UKAD settlement.

By the way this will be Luis' 5th fight in 15 months. Always good to see the old folk staying active.

But then they overturned it again in a puzzeling way a couple of days later, as they declared the ban to have started shortly after the Wlad fight. Reason was obvious of course, that otherwise that result should probably be overturned as well because he was officially suspended at the time of the fight, leaving Fury without ever officially winning the heavyweight title.
So he didn't get the fight he was caught in overturned afterall. Which is completely ridiculous of course.
