Ortiz looked awful in there. Scott was just Scott. But no way is Ortiz on the same level as Pov, Wlad or Wilder.

Not kidding, Ortiz landed nothing but a few body shots in round 8 while Malik landed a few counters.

Ortiz is still a level above Whyte.

If he fights a mover that can actually punch, there's a very high likelihood that he gets KO'ed. That's been my take on him long before this fight (against Scott) was even thought about. The hype was bestowed upon him a bit prematurely.

To be fair, there was a very long count earlier on so it could've been a KO.

However, I don't get why Ortiz didn't let his hands go more and just slug him out of there. Scott couldn't really hurt him.

It's a shame that Scott didn't have more self belief, he clearly has ability and he really only started fighting in the 7th round.

Ortiz looked slow, unable to get off his shots against an opponent who didn't take the fight to him, he also showed he leaves himself open to be countered if you can make him miss. Ortiz's footwork is also an issue, he needs to be set to fire shots off in bunches, against a moving target he simply isn't in position long enough to really let his hands go. He showed some weaknesses and this fight does little to build a fight with Joshua, should that be Hearn's plan at some point.

Ortiz didn't land big clean shots on Scott. And when he landed something, he didn't seem to be all that hard. Scott went down from rabbit punches and a push on the shoulder more than an actual punch on the chin.

Some guys really believed that fairy tale of Ortiz' superhuman power.

I gave him round 8 too. Thought it was a clear round for him - only one he landed anything in and Ortiz landed nothing.
