Honestly I’m picking Ortiz to win by KO. Moorer might have been a bit quicker especially given that he peaked at a much younger age but Ortiz was far superior in size, power and durability. And while Moorer had skills and mobility he wasn’t proficient enough to completely avoid getting hit

Ortiz would stop Moorer in 7-9 round.

I feel like these threads are making people realize they rank Ortiz higher H2H then they thought they did.

Ortiz is one of the most of the overrated fighters ever. The man did nothing. Moorer by KO.

Moorer a lot more proven but this is a very tricky fight style wise for him.

Ortiz didn't prove himself one bit. Moorer by decision.

Moorer has a much better legacy, but Ortiz is bad news for Moorer stylistically.

I’ll break it down, Ortiz is a very quick counterpuncher with perfect technique, yes he was flat footed and straight on without much side to side movement, but that was a disadvantage mainly against guys who were tall with a long with good extension on their punches.

Moorer had a solid jab, and he could theoretically win if he gave Ortiz some movement as he did against Foreman until he got caught, but Moorer could be caught himself as he relied on the block, and also Ortiz is very good at countering a southpaw jab as well.

If he’s able to counter Moorer’s jab, then Moorer is forced to get into range instead, where Ortiz, who has similar speed, is quite a bit bigger, probably hits harder or similar, but Ortiz has a better chin, and when guys step in, Ortiz is brilliant at countering and timing them, and he can also find the gaps on the inside, uppercuts, bodyshots etc. Moorer, other than the jab, would be outmatched in most departments.

If Moorer can’t establish a jab without getting countered, Ortiz would be bad news for him, Moorer needs to give him some lateral movement and stick to the gameplan, and establish a jab off of the movement to take away Ortiz’s counters.

Ortiz wouldn't be losing to a chinny blown up light heavyweight. The amount of hurt feelings in this thread is remarkable.

Who did Ortiz beat? I'll wait all day. I dont wanna hear that he did well in the first Wilder fight. A lot of bums had success against Wilder. Who did he actually BEAT in his career to favor him over a HOFmer in Moorer? Nobody. He beat absolutely nobody.

This is nothing but recency bias. Again, Luis Ortiz did absolutely nothing in his career.

BTW, Moorer's chin was no worse than Wilder's. Both had crap jaws. If Ortiz was this crushing beast, Wilder wouldn't have survived.

    Three things.

    1. Moorer was washed up when he fought Tua. I dont think he would have beaten Tua at any point, but he'd have certainly done a lot better in his prime.

    2. David Tua is one of the top 10 biggest punchers in heavyweight history. He actually stopped name guys. Luis Ortiz did not. Which brings me to three...

    3. You still didn't answer my question. Who the Hell did Ortiz beat?

    You have no argument.

    1. Luis Ortiz actually stopped a top 5 guy. David “top 10 biggest puncher in heavyweight history” Tua never beat a top 5 guy.
    2. Moorer was years younger than Ortiz for either Wilder fight when Tua flatlined him in comical fashion.
