Not seen enough of this Ortiz guy to rate him, he turned late (30) but so did Rigo (28)) who's a S Bantam weight and look what he's done already.

With a 343-19 claimed am record and numerous medal's to go with it he's had plenty of amateur experience behind him, this guy could be a serious threat.

He fought tricky Zack Page in his second fight and stopped him, Which Fury, Pulev, Perez x2, Pianeta, Charr, Gerber, Mitchell, Hernandez, Sprott, G Jones, Banks and Guinn all failed to do.

Apart from that he's not done much other than beat an ancient Bert Cooper, who to this day at 47 years old, is still hungry for another title shot over 20 years since his wars with Moorer and Holy.

I believe Ortiz stops Kauffman with ease.

    Thoughts? :think

    I agree.

Ortiz is decent, while Kauffman isn't very good.

Travis has padded his record with old boxers who previously fought in smaller weight divisions, who have been KOed many times and were coming off long losing streaks.

Ortiz has fought some very poor opposition too, but has also been in with a couple of decent journeymen like Page. Luis appears to be a better-schooled and stronger fighter than Kauffman.

    Ortiz by KO/TKO 3.

Kauffman said the Grano KO loss was controversial? What does he mean by this... Have you seen this fight?

Kauffman was counted out after being literally thrown to the ground, at least i think it was that fight. He had nearly knocked grano out earlier but was in trouble at the time of the incident.

He's worse than ortiz thats for sure, although I think Ortiz has regressed recently. Happens a lot to the Cuban Prodigies actually, I guess the lack of the structure which they grew up with makes it more difficult for them to stay disciplined.

Ortiz has looked like a pretty good prospect up to this point against limited opposition but he wasn't a prodigy.

Ortiz has been so inactive. I hope he doesn't show too much rust.

Just looked through Kauffman's record to find his best win. It's, erm, Cliff Couser? Charles Davis? Awful record. How the **** is he ranked WBA #13?

And Luis Ortiz's WBA ranking is even worse - they have him at #2! Ahead of Boytsov, Banks, Mago, Malik - and they don't even rank most of the top 30.

Ortiz should win this based entirely on his wins against Page and Releford who are both credible journeymen.

Also noticed Kauffman's nickname is "Great White Hope" - somebody tell him it's no longer the 1960s?

Wow. Feel sorry for Kauffman after watching that, he should still have his 0. Kauffman beating the **** out of Grano, then Grano with a clearly deliberate low blow, then spitting his gumshield out, then after he started to get the upper hand, Kauffman's hands touched the canvas only for Grano to hit him again which put him down for good. Three incidents of blatant cheating all in the same round and the ref just let him get away with it and Grano got the KO win. Can't believe this bum was ranked WBC #5 until he lost his last fight against a journeyman.

This fight should be fairly close, the winner will get the first decent win on their record. Though you would expect Ortiz to have the upper hand.
