Isn't Kauffman coming off a loss to Mansour and then should have lost to Scott Alexander, people should stop getting on Miller about his competition.

Ortiz's last shot is this DAZN 3 fight deal.

But, tbh, he's all smoke no fire.

2 failed drugs test and a KO of Bryant Jennings has somehow led to Ortiz being hyped as some 'monster'.

"Everyone is avoiding Ortiz" will be making the rounds again.....

Just like "Everyone has avoided Wilder" when his resume gets questioned.

    Funny really.

I don't seem to recall Lewis/Tyson getting 'Avoided'.
Floyd never got ducked.....Loma has no issues getting fights.

    Yup

Haymon himself has fights for ortiz if he wanted them

I think ortiz has bought into his own hype a little bit at this stage.

    But fact is he's 40

At that age, a year, even six months is a LONG time. He doesn't have the time for even ONE stay busy fight.

He needs to be headlining cards, not fighting bums on undercards.

Andrade is showing Charlos/Hurd/Spence how it is done.

What heavyweights out there are chomping at the bit to fight Ortiz? Wlad sidestepped him to fight Joshua which I can understand, but Joshua sidestepped him when he was mandatory and ended up fighting Takam. Whyte talked tuff but when his card was pulled by Ortiz he shut tfu. Parker don't want none, I haven't Miller's big mouth shouting his name. So who is out there calling out Ortiz for real. Wilder is the only one who stepped up.

Some top guys don't really want to fight Ortiz because there's some risk but him being 50 they will get no credit for a win and financially he brings nothing.

But I'm sure there would be guys in and around the top 50 who would happily take him on who would be better than Kauffman and Cojanu

    Jarell Miller
    Izu Ugonoh
    Agit Kabayel
    Sergei kuzmin

There's plenty of guys like that who would be good tests for Ortiz and im telling you now plenty of them would jump at it

But Ortiz seems content to fight bums and try keep Whyte away from wilder

If that's how he wants to spend his twilight years thats on him

Its another one of those history rewrites from the dontae subscribers

Just like how Wlad apparently "avoided" wilder when we know for an absoloute fact that the reverse is true.

Why can't they put a decent opponent in with Luis Ortiz?
I'm sure 36 year old gerald washington would take that fight with both hands.

So true. Just because you are being avoided by the top guys and yes Ortiz is not a fight anyone wants to take if they have anything to lose as he is dangerous and provides a poor payday, but that doesn't mean you scrape the bottom of the barrel for opposition and that it's in any way acceptable.

Whyte has been calling out Wilder for ages, is he fighting Martz, Cojanu and Kaufmann level fighters to try and put pressure on Wilder to face him? Nope he's fighting Chisora, Browne and Parker, so now he's become, one relevant and two a draw which will help him secure the big fights.

But Ortiz like for much of his career is not taking even remotely competitive fights. He's making it easy for him to be ducked because wins over Kaufmann will not be having people clamouring for him to fight better fights.

Look at Chisora took the Takam fight, won it now people calling for the Whyte rematch as a headline fight. That's how you get fights that matter you take risks, you face better opposition, you don't sit on the side lines fighting guys you should of been KOing when you were 12-0.

If people are ducking you, you make it impossible for people to ignore you by KOing guys impressively that are decent. With all of Haymon's other heavies why isn't he fighting one of them. Kownacki, Miller, Martin, Breazeale, Hunter Jr etc. Why is Joyce seemingly about to fight Washington and not Ortiz? Ortiz has better options for opponents but either his handlers are not giving them to him or he's just content getting an easy payday like he was for most of his career.

Yes there are always better options that guys like Kaufmann. Even Mansour would be a better fight.

Bogdan Dinu is about to step up to fight Miller, that's another guy who couldn't get a break because the lack of drawing power and a good promoter but someone is now finally giving him a shot and why couldn't Ortiz have fought this guy. Could of paid Dinu peanuts, Dinu obviously would of taken it as he has no other options stuck in Romania most of the time unable to get better fights and Dinu is unbeaten and looks like a half decent fighter unlike Kaufmann.

What about other unbeaten guys that have yet to break through. Kabayel is 18-0, Zhang, Schwarz, Wallin etc. Oscar Rivas is another unbeaten boxer who would be a more interesting fight than Ortiz beating up another journeymen.

Poor fight imo, the fearsome bogeyman should be making more noise than this!

Shame that the last 4 years of the US HW scene revolve around Wilder, Washington, Jennings, Ortiz and Stiverne.
Possibly the low point of US heavyweight boxing for the post war era.
Let's hope Wilder V Fury can spark it too life again.
