Perhaps not. The poor old man has to take medication for high blood pressure. If he had been 20 years younger, he'd have easily knocked Wilder out cold.
Cooper coming out of retirement would be a more interesting prospect than seeing Hanks get destroyed by another live fighter... Hell, not even sure Hanks would beat an old Cooper convincingly....
Shows the level Ortiz really is. Guy is far behind even Whyte/Parker..... No serious challenger takes this fight, Looks like they're going for Wilder v Ortiz ll
If you're like me you will agree, It's good to help the elderly, Keep them warm if they feel cold, For one day you may too be old, Give them a pair of special socks, Or humour them if they like to box, Don't be so rude to risk a mention, That by now they should draw a pension, Instead be kind, it's no great chore, To indulge an aged Cuban southpaw, And so we should give special thanks, To hitherto unknown Big Joe Hanks, For he of Dreads so nice an long, Is next in line for Old King Kong, He may not be a boxing great, But it still takes dedication, To fight an old aged pensioner, On blood pressure medication,
At least it's a fight but lets be real Tom Hanks has much of a chance as beating Ortiz as Joe Hanks, the guy lost to Derric Rossy. Ortiz doesn't have time to waste, needs to step up in his next fight.
You're really bringing this forum up a notch, mate! A poem about Fury and now Ortiz; right up my alley
It's not Ortiz fault that nobody wants to fight him. He has to stay active at his age or he can call it a career. Stay busy and wait for a bigger fight. He will probably fight Kownacki in the end of 2018.
Would be good to have a comparison if Joshua/Wilder don't agree terms, it's why a lot of people wanted Wilder/Whyte too. While they have fought common opponents in Gavern and Molina it's much better to have them in against better comp to compare. But won't happen Ortiz burned his bridges with Hearn. He could of signed with him but refused and then jumped ship to Haymon and let's be honest Ortiz didn't exactly light up the room when he fought Scott and Allen and at his age Hearn will likely see it as a waste of time and effort to do a deal with Ortiz now. Plus Ortiz isn't ranked by any of the other organisations after his failed test even if Joshua/Hearn wanted it the sanctioning bodies would not sanction it.
Are you serious what about Dillian vs Malcolm Tann or Parker vs Cajonui. They have all fought bums at some point, even though this is a crap fight it’s good Ortiz is keeping active till he can get one of the better fighters in the ring.
Yep, it's nothing to be shouting about but it's just a keep busy fight, not everyone can be like Parker and bounce back from a first defeat straight into a PPV event, that's not common at all. But Ortiz doesn't have time to waste, if this isn't just a keep busy fight but the kind of opponents we can expect for him from now on then it's a path to nowhere. He's in a very tricky position, only ranked by the WBC, so can't challenge Joshua or winner of Charr/Oquendo, high risk, low reward, too old for any promoter to invest in him. He just has to hope Haymon doesn't screw him and can line him up with some of his other heavies for some half decent paydays.
