I personally think he's great and has the ability to go all the way but where do you think he can actually go? With him being 36 and the Heavyweight division so busy at the moment do you reckon he'll get there in time? I don't know much about him apart from his impressive amateur career and the PED incident - apart from that I'm interested in his career. Do you reckon he's getting ducked or will start to?
Unless someone steps up, i think his time will come next year. 3 fights on HBO this year would possibly give him a big enough ground to lure in a big fight. For a 36 year old, he still has a lot of speed. His legs remain yet under him, and his power has been impressive so far. If he can adapt to his ever so dwindling engine, then he can climb to the top - can he conquer it? Only time will tell. Looking at the Ring Magazine top 10, i don´t see many fighters who would be a stylistic problem for him. Wladimir and Fury have proven know how when it comes to foot work but that´s about it. Of course you have Wilder, who is likely the most athletic of the bunch, but his ring IQ is nothing to gloat over, and he has demonstrated poor ring generalship on several occasions. Not many fighters have cheated Father Time, and only one has come close to beating it.
Ortiz is a fresh 36 years old boxer, he hasn't taken much punishment in his pro career so I believe he can compete at the top for the next 3-5 years. Of course it will require him a healthy relationship with an important boxing company as Golden Boy. After Thompson he will probably fight Ustinov and win, then it's Klitchko/Fury or some other big opportunity against Povetkin/Wilder, Joshua or Haye. It looks good so far.
Ortiz is a dark horse.could be the man at HW good power better chin than wilder?stronger than fury ?faster than Joshua ?bigger than Povitkin.time is not on his side needs to move fast .bring it on.
It's good that he's taking this fight with Thompson... Needs to stay busy. Pretty sure he's mandatory to the Browne/Chagaev winner, he comes out on top in these two fight as he should that should be enough to earn a crack at the real WBA belt. :good
Chagaev-Browne winner is obliged to fight Oquendo, I think Ortiz will directly be mandated to fight Fury-Wlad winner.
Oh yeah I remember that now.... Guess Thompson has Ustinovs slot, and wow the Chagaev/Browne winner really has their work cut out for them in the semi-final
Oquendo is such a pain in the ass. Brings nothing to the table, nearly impossible to look good against. We might've get Chagaev vs Ortiz late this year if It weren't for him.
Good enough to win a title, but not sure he does. It may be he either doesn't get his chance or it comes too late. Either way I hope he does well - think he is good to watch.
