This should of never happened.
Both fighters should have their gloves examined
both --- before they are gloved
and --- after they are gloved (with gloves on).
If anything doesnt seem right, then the gloves should be removed for a more detailed examination.
In my opinion, I think the governing boxing body bears some of the responsibility as well.

Im sure they have a duty of care or something but Resto and Lewis are just pieces of **** for such dog act like that.

Obviously corruption has always been an underlying problem in boxing even to this day.
Its either that or pure imcompetance which allowed these guys to do this.

 

I'm glad he admits it. If not, some people would swear forever that he was framed. I hope that he is not making money off the film though. I think that is against law in New York, under the Son of Sam Law.

I had not heard about th eplaster of Paris before. Collin's career was ruined. If Collin' sfther had not run over and demanded gloves be siezed comission would have known nothing (or said nothing if they discovered it.)

 

In 1991 the Supreme Court in their everlasting wisdom struck down New York's Son of Sam law. The current New York Son of Sam law passed in 2001 is a pale shadow of the original. It basically gives the victims or their families the right to sue off any such profits. But it has such things as a statute of limitations ( time limit ) and a minimum amount of money before it comes into play ($10,000).

Resto's making money off this. It's enough to make you vomit.

At least this should finally kill Panama Lewis's career.

 

A sad and disgusting chapter in boxing history. I'm glad to see Resto finally admitting it, but disappointed that the only reason is because he stands to gain a few bucks.

Panama Lewis is a dispicable human being.

Edit: I just read that Resto will not be making any money on the success of the film, so I take that accusation back.

 

What gets me is that despite knowing full well what he did he was prepared to cast aspersions about the role played by the Collins team (with accusations of switching the gloves post-fight, suggesting the injuries were exaggerated etc).

I am glad he's finally made this admission, I'm just expecting to see quotes in the near future with him again suggesting things weren't that bad. I hope I'm wrong.
