Well . . . Castillo nees to hang it up now.

    Scores were 98 - 92; 99 - 91 (2x).

Was he even game or did he just get beat up?

I'm trying to get a sense of whether I missed a good scrap or not..

So...pretty much just an academic beatdown; not that entertaining, not worth hunting down?

I thought this fight would end up with Castillo being KO, I was wrong in that aspect.

Castillo has had a great career and gave boxing fans several noteworthy fights. Mayweather , Corrales , Hatton, Ngoudjo, Casamayor and more were good to very good fights.

I'm a bit surprised the lack of posts as Jose rarely had a fight where he didn't give a good to great effort. One of the top fighters in the last 10 years.

He certainly ran into a windmill against Lujan who was bigger younger and hungrier. End of the road for a hall of famer in my opinion.

Thanks for the memories Jose .

I remember watching Jamie Moore beat Lujan and Lujan was terrible, JLC must be 100% shot.

Yeah, a boring fight because Castillo didn't look like he wanted to be there. He simply looked shot.. slow reflexes and handspeed, little movement, gunshy, motivated enough to survive, but not motivated enough to try his best to win. It will be very sad to see Castillo fight anybody in the future.

If you're gonna watch 5 minutes of it though, watch the second round. Castillo hurt Lujan, but didn't go for the kill so he gave Lujan the opportunity to recover. He had a ton of opportunities to counter Lujan again, but after about the 3rd round he started fading and looked mentally out of the fight.

Yeah, Castillo stunned Lujan in the second round but did nothing to try a KO or even a KD.

Not in this fight, Lujan threw over 1200 punches and Castillo just could not cope with the high volume. If you want to see the sort of Lujan that fought Castillo check out Lujans last fight on youtube against Walter Matthysse he won KO5 and it was very entertaining fight.

Jamie Moore beat him pretty handily as well at 154.

Castillo needs to give the game up, and quick - so people will remember him for the great warrior that he was, rather than the shot welterweight carrying on for no apparent reason.

To borrow a line from Graham Houston's Fightwriter preview - "...what on earth is his management doing putting him in with a durable, heavy handed, rough customer such as Sebastian Lujan?"
