Chad Dawson is one of the best fighters in the world pound for pound, but he's not a big selling fighter. Ogogo is no great shakes, but he will do well through correct marketability and fight promoting. It's not about being out and out the best. Sometimes when you are too good, this can decrease you're marketable, glaring strengths and extreme flaws & personality build excitement and attractions.
Young Evans for me is the real deal in the pro ring ... for those who said Ogogo you must be joking !!
Campbell needs to leave the pros alone stay am hes on top funding ,was more impressed with the women boxers than the men.
ogogo chinny would get exposed pretty early stay am hes on top funding. joshua needs more experinces at times it showed he only been boxing for 4 years, savon done him also he got done in the final ,people need to stop comparing him to lewis hes more bruno
I wouldnt be surprised if most of these kids stay in the AM ranks. They are all on good money with funding that has been secured for another 4 years. Throw in a few sponserships throughout next year, the worlds and then glasgow in '14 and then turn over. Not a bad time at all to be an amateur in the team GB squad. If they did turn over now, would Rob take a few under his wing? With Froch possibly only having another 3 bouts, could be a good time to blood a new one in the pros.
Great for the lads on the squad, but by them staying on it gives no one else a chance to break through & get on the GB squad
Don't think Ogogo will go very far in either the amateur or professional ranks. Campbell should stay amateur as he's suited to it. I really hope Evans and Selby turn professional soon though. :yep
No. And you've changed your tune PK, you said Ogogo was the best boxer on the GB squad the other day?
Not exactly. People on the team aren't cemented in place. If there is a British amateur good enough to beat 'em, they can take their place. I'd rather have a squad full of quality and experience rather than the idea of ' letting someone else have a go '.
