Luke Campbell is the real deal! People saying he's crap.........don't know sh@t bout boxing! He looks very strong at the weight.
Any coach in the uk would be happy to havehim in there gym m, seriously gold medal winner crap? He done a week in my gym and the lad has real talent and his punch power will only improve, top lad to boot as we'll by the way
do you not think he was hit far too easily by a journeyman though Billy? What will happen when he meets someone that can bang, someone thats not there to lose like these journeymen? For me he's still stuck in that Amateur style, of throwing one clean punch then sitting back and admiring it.
That's my point really, he needs stepping up. There's a great domestic scene he should be working through. Ive not been impressed by Lake, I wouldn't call Campbell a slow non puncher though.
To be honest I'd say L.Campbell is the brightest prospect in UK boxing right now aside from big AJ, Granted he got involved a little too much last night,he's a novice pro - he's learning - part of the game. End story is he's 'an elite level amatuer' as they say nowadays. I 100% see him making waves all across the European LW scene in the next 12months. As for lacking power? seriously? his range, angles, variation & vision more than make up for 'power' issues. Kristoph Szot is a wiley old dog who knows how to survive,it's his job!
The guy had 15 losses, Campbell is a world and Olympic champion. He should be making these kind of opponents look like the journeymen they are IMO.
Then I'm sorry mate you don't have a full understanding of boxing, that guy is usually very durable and tough as nails, he landed a few shots on Luke and he took them well but when the ref stopped the fight the guy never accepted it because he was taking good shots
And Nate Campbell is an ex world unified two weight world champion with 20 odd KO's, he never put him away and laboured to a decision over him!!!
Szot has only been stopped twice previously one of those was on cuts the other was a 7th round stoppage (while standing was never floored) against a 22(19)-0 welterweight. Szot came in 3lb heavey at the weigh in the day before and usually boxes at light welter, no one had grinded him down like that before the way Campbell mixed body and head was good. He held his feet abit long now and again and took a sloppy shot but he wanted to hold his ground and take centre ring hes still learning and will gain alot from that fight, someone previous said about him throwing single shots and sitting back to admire I disagree as the fight went on I thought Campbell put his shots together well.
He's fought a whose who of british LW / LWW / WW this year alone & no one has even looked close to putting him away. Take Chad Gaynor for example, a MASSIVE kid for WW - with proven stopping power (Anwar) he went the distance. No there's no wrong in taking 7 rounds to put out, none what so ever.
I think back to when prospects actually lost fights early in their career, and still got to the top of the game. I dread to think of what would be said now when the 'novices' Conteh, McGuigan and Watson lost early on. And imagine the insults a Dennis Andries would have to put up with!
If the Coyle v Campbell happens next year it will be interesting to see what the fan base split will be. I like Campbell and rate him highly but follow Coyle's career much more closely. There is no doubting that Luke is very popular in Hull but I genuinely think Tommy has a bigger fan base in Hull than Luke, especially with boxing fans. I'm sure Buster will disagree but that's the way I see it.
