He will have received a managment fee from Harrison & McCloskey, but nothing from the promotion. Look back to the interviews after the Khan PPV fell through, he was slating them for not putting a solid undercard together and when asked if he was asked before the Haye vs Harrison fight about the undercard he said he wasnt promoting the fight.

So you do give him a free pass for his involvement in the poorest two PPVs in recent years then?

    Frank wouldn't get one.

Would those cards have been ok if there was a Hearn-esque undercard? Say Rees-Matthews (mismatch), Frampton-Hirales (mismatch), Proksa-Hope (no one really cares about) or Bellew-Bolonti?

Let's be honest he's really got to back up his talk with this PPV. It's his first where he is pretty much responsible for it. I expect at least, as good an undercard as Burns/Vasquez. You could let him off if it was only slightly worse as Froch is marginally more well known than Burns but will there be another world title fight, hell even a European title fight?

Sky TV, Khan/Hayemaker/Goldenboy Promotions are the ones to blame. Sky being the biggest culprit. The Khan fight didn't even end up as a PPV so you cant bring that up, and Haye va Harrison did huge numbers. Froch vs Kessler is not a PPV fight because nobody knows who Kessler is and Froch is not a star according to DFTaylor....can't say that about Haye or Audley.

Khan vs Presscott, Barerra, Salita, Kotelnik were the worst PPVs in recent memory by the way. Both W*rren. All the undercards were as bad as the cards brought up in this thread.

I agree he has got to back it up, I think he will and will eat crow and be the first to call it bull**** if he doesnt.

Froch is in a different league to Ricky Burns, and Kessler is in a different league to Vasquez. TV Ratings, fight attendences, US TV intrest, newspaper coverage. Bigger names and bigger fight.

Rob, you can huff and puff as much as you like but the truth of the matter is that Carl Froch is largely unknown in the UK, and Kessler is only remembered as the bloke who Calzaghe beat. It may be a great fight, it may even be PPV worthy from an entertainment point of view, but the truth of the matter is that I just cant see it doing the numbers...It could actually be embarrassing.

What constitutes embarrassing in terms of Ticket Sales & PPV buys?

Froch is the 2nd biggest active fighter in the country. If you think he is unknown, the sport is ****ed!

So you do give him a free pass for pushing Audley Harrison into a PPV? And McCloskey (it was on Primetime).

Primetime doesn't count...and Hearn told them they were idiots for not going on Sky Sports 3.

He did a good job for his fighters. He would have pushed for those fights whether they were PPV or not.

Sky TV are to blame for Haye vs Harrison. End of story.

The sport is ****ed, and it has been for years....one of the reasons being PPV. Once you make a sport niche you are ****ed....Carl Froch could walk down most high streets in the country and he would go unnoticed, it is sad but its an absolute fact.

think you're over-egging that a bit personally. Depends how you define the 'general public' I suppose...your average casual sports fans are aware who Froch is, granted they wouldn't be able to tell you much about him. And it's nonsense to say no one apart from hardcore fans know who Mayweather or Pacman are.

Everybody will have different opinions according to their personal circle of friends etc. My own personal barometer are the footie/cricket fans at work...they've shown enough interest and recognition of Froch recently for me to believe the Kessler fight as a PPV could be a success if pitched correctly.

If you were watching a race, between 2 fast men, 1 from yorkshire, 1 from kent, would they be saying AWAY, HOME, AND SOMTIMES GIVE THE WINNING RUNNER SECOND PLACE, or your big athletic overtrained yorkshire man, is racing an overweight under 5ft runner with a limp. well for all the neutral people in the inbetween countys, its crap, uncompetative, predictable, fixed , bent etc, and unless something different is done, then yes, IT IS F-CKED.:good
