Williams dropped the undefeated Eloy Perez twice, before tiring and losing the fight by decision. Williams cited having to lose ten pounds just days before the fight as a factor in the loss but there were rumblings that after knocking out ten of his first 12 opponents, Williams didnt prepare to go a full ten rounds and tired as the fight progressed into the later rounds. That is what brought Williams to Youngstown full-time with Loew and a greater focus and determination to the sport. Compared to those of his past, the loss to Perez was an easy lesson for Williams, who grew up in the projects of the north side of St. Louis, where temptations were great and hope was scarce. I started off as a pro in 05; I was signed by Don King, and James Prince was my manager, said Williams, so I was on the right track. But I was still playing both sides of the fence. I went to jail, went to the penitentiary; I had a lot of time to think about what I was going to do with myself. I was trying to mix boxing with the street stuff; I wasnt focused all the way. So now, Youngstown has changed my whole life around; Im training with a champion and a Hall of Fame coach. I cant ask for more. Probably Robbery, drugs or something of that nature. :smoke
If You wanna know anything about fighters who train In Cleveland / Youngstown Area. @Jsimps is your man!
They say The Winner of this fight has potential World title fights coming soon! I Would assume that Williams (If He wins) might get his chance again at Eloy Perez again either at 130 or 135. I know he wants it!
Dannie grew up in the streets of St. Louis and started gang banging. Boxing and moving to Y-town probably saved his life or going to jail for a very long time.
