Pintor defended the WBC title Eight times, boasting a record of 7 wins and 1 draw, with 5 wins coming in the scheduled distance. After his 8th defense, Pintor relinquished the belt and moved north to Super Bantamweight. After one fight Pintor challenged Wilfredo Gomez for the WBC Super Bantamweight Championship. The Pintor vs Gomez fight was arguably the greatest fight in the rich Mexico vs Puerto Rico boxing landscape, with the Puerto Rican securing a 14th Round TKO. Three years later, in 1985, Pintor would add the WBC Super Bantamweight Title to his resume, winning a Unanimous Decision over Juan Meza.
