Was just looking around on Boxrec and saw the fight on Lyakovichs record. That was a damn good fight I would say best HW fight of the last 5 years. I know it would make no sense what so ever but I would LOVE to see them get it on again. I also need to find some video of that.
Maybe they should go at it one more time, the first fight seems to have changed both fighters, the 2nd fight will determine who's left in the title picture. Lyakovich UD again.
Sergei is shot to pieces. Done. Finished. he was a zombie against both Briggs and the Yeti. his conditioning gets worse every fight and Ivalo Gotzev is his manager. Talk about having the deck stacked against u.... Brewster looked very lethargic in his comeback fight. he may have a little bit left though. He still has that iron chin and power. Not sure if he has the fire anymore. he wins with his heart and will. that's the most difficult way to win
Definitely one of the better heavyweight fights in years. I was at this fight and the crowd was electric during it. One of those fights where the crowd was on its feet for almost the entire time.
Agreed, great fight. Maybe the best heavyweight fight of this decade so far. Etienne/Clay Bey is also a sleeper for that title.
definitley a memorable fight. i didnt expect anything from lyakovich considering i didnt know him much and saw brewster ko golota lol. by the 3rd or 4th round i began thinking what a good fight it was
Lyakovich had one good performance against Brewster. Brewster had only two good performances - Lyakovich and Klitschko. Now both Brewster and Lyakovich are virtually non-existent. Too bad, I wanted to see both fighters more often.
Definitely a good one, well worthing picking up a copy and easily the best HW that year...and indeed, since that year as well, hmm.
Lamon Brewster is and was a legend. He is a guy who was able to be hurt, but through will alone, would hold it together and come back. He did so against Klitschko when he took a pretty horrific beating. He fought a toe-to-toe war against Meehan and was hurt pretty bad in the process. He TKO'd Golota in a round when the odds were way against him to lose. He was behind on cards against Krasniqi in a great war but used his boxing skills and eventually beat the snot out of him. And against Sergei, he dealed with getting hurt, BADLY, SEVERAL times, to eventually floor the guy and lose a close decision in a BRUTAL affair. Brewster was always the man. I will root for the guy until he decides to hangem up.
