possible though it would be a risky move by Bob Arum because if Lyell beats Duddy again then I don't know how you sell that 'super' fight with Chavez Jr.
Billy is the local and I'll pull for him but I have to wonder if Burns trying to get John down to 154 played a roll in this fight. It was a catch weight below 160 and John missed it by a pound or so.
Yeah, but at some point you just have to make the fights and let the chips fall. I think John's fan base is pushing this one so it might 'have' to be done.
Duddy isnt trained by Burns anymore, left him a few fights back. Now training with Harry Keitt who he was with earlier in his career and is definitely staying at middleweight now.
:think Not really, in my opinion. Obviously a lot of Irish fans are the most one-eyed in the sport, but still - surely they must be losing patience with meaningless 8 rounder after meaningless 8 rounder. There are plenty of good 154-168 fighters boxing in the UK with the Irish connection that are way better, and way more entertaining to watch than Duddy, who would dispatch the clubfighters he and Lee have been facing with ease..... the names Jamie Moore and Matthew Macklin spring to mind immediately. Hey, they could have a rematch - it's on YT, a must see :yep
Remember, Arum is trying to fill a stadium here. If the Duddy fans show up and see a good card it is then easier to do a 'bait and switch' on them next time. It is still a business so good 'events' are still a positive. But this is all guess work in the long run trying to get people to any event.
:yep:yep:yep:yep coming from an englishman il take that with a pinch of salt.p4p fighters coming out your ears arnt there(or whoever sky tells the british public is good this week). everyone in ireland knows how limited duddy is you idiot! hes a guy that gets in good to watch scraps and puts bums on seats - therefore hes the perfect undercard fighter! jamie moore who was ko'd last fight? matt macklin who has to fight in leisure centres when hes the euro champ? please mate
