Source: http://www.vindy.com/news/2010/feb/02/lyell-banged-up-bummed-out/?newswatch Itd be nice if I could say I should have done this or I should have done that, said Lyell, of Niles. But I was in shape, I felt good. Even warming up in the locker room, I was saying, This is my night tonight. It just didnt happen. He was walking right through them, Lyell said. It was almost like a teenager fighting a grown man. I love the kid; hes all heart and guts, said Loew, who has been training fighters, including Kelly Pavlik, for 22 years. But its like you or me stepping in to run the 100-meter dash against that guy who runs it in like three seconds. I dont care what you do, youre never going to beat him. Its the same with Billy. Hes never going to win a big fight at 54 or 60 because he cant punch. Thats how boxing works. Billy has absolutely nothing in world to be ashamed of, he said. My opinion is Billy should quit boxing. He had a great run, he got a great shot and how many people from around here can say they fought for the IBF championship of the world? I think he should get his teaching certificate and live his life. I couldnt ask for anything more of him. Loew also said WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm (who beat Sylvester) is still trying to price himself out of fighting Kelly. And when he was asked about former IBF champion King Arthur Abraham of Germany, who left the middleweight division to fight in Showtimes Super Six super middleweight tournament, he told reporters Abraham better catch him with the one big punch he has or [Andre] Dirrell kicks the [expletive] out of him. And the locals didn't appreciate his honest opinion about a fight with Kelly. 3 round prediction. I dont think theyll be asking me back, he said. I burned my bridges. But Id go back there and Id take Team Pavlik with me. Itd be the easiest belt we ever won.
I was glad to get back to the airport, said Loew. Theyre just lucky I didnt call him Queen Arthur. Stage is set.
Jack putting that big mouth to good use. Set it up Jack, set it up. Man I like Arthur and all, But I hated to see him knockout Jermain like that.
I only saw the last part of the fight on a pretty crappy feed. Problem is if he decides to continue he needs to play the 'weight game' and fight at welter weight and that might be worse than 154 and 160.
He wasn't brave enough to talk any of these **** beeing interviewed after the Lyell-fight. He is a coward.
I can't disagree with Loew as it relates to Lyell. The dude should be proud he made it as far as he did, but there's no happy ending waiting for him if he keeps trying to fight at the high contender and championship levels. I usually don't use the term "moral victory", but just making it that far was exactly that for Lyell.
LOL at one of the most incompetent trainers in the sport talking trash. I guess since Arthur is committed to the Super Six, douchebag jack feels like it's safe to talk **** about a fight that won't happen. HBO is interested in a Bute-Pavlik fight. Lets hear Joe Dirt comment on that.
