Lyle Ali

This was no Joey Curtis Situation, and it was irrelevant what had gone on in the proceeding rounds, Lyles head was being hit with too many accurate Flush Shots, - with the Promise of more and perhaps Heavier to follow, best to stop this one definitive punch too early then several destructive punches too late.
for me a pefectly good timed stoppage. (perhaps in retrospect it was the suddeness with which it was acheived which is the real surprising factor ?)

 

almost same score of mine and lyle was ****ed up. sure he dominated the previous rounds but he was hurt and taking them flush. perfect stoppage

 

Lyle was a few rounds up on the cards,as Ali gave a lot of the early rounds away,due to having a glorified rest,and letting Ron bag points on workrate. Once Muhammad got in the mood for business,though,there was only going to be one winner.

And yes,the stoppage was totally justified. Ali caught Ron with a peach of a right hand,then threw an uncontested blitz of blows at Lyle's head. Only a sadist or rabid Lyle hater would protest at the referee stepping in.
