Just watched the Lyle v Foreman slugfest.Got me thinking, would Lyle emulate George and get Kenny out of there early? What do you think? I reckon he would.

I have always thought that he would. I think Kenny is the greater fighter, but h2h I think Lyle would stop him in...call it 4-6

Initial thought is Norton by decision. I don't think Lyle's dynamic enough to get Kenny out of there early and i think Kenny is the better fighter.

Lyle would back him up at some point. And Ron had a nice left hook and that punch is open with that Norton defense. Aside from Ali and Foreman, Norton really was not facing anywhere near top competition in that timeframe the bout could have happened, say 73 to 1976.

Kenny Norton by decision most likely. I don't think Lyle was aggressive enough on offense to overwhelm Norton the way Foreman was able to. I believe this would be more of a boxing match and Norton would get warmed up and in a groove outboxing Ron Lyle.

If Lyle had the Foreman destroyer mentality to impose his power and strength he might have....but I have my opinion that this is the reason they were never matched....Norton had his Achilles heel in powerful aggressive fighters so no Frazier or Lyle and only Quarry when he was out of shape and on the down hill.

Would be a 2 round ko loss for Norton ..Kenny would be hurt early and Lyle would be all over him .

Unless Ron jumps on Ken straight away, nailing him, then Norton outboxes thus outpoints Ron.

This thread has been started several times over the years.
    I like both fighters.
"When you came forward against Norton and banged, he backed up and was easy pickins".
Most...seem to say Lyle without a doubt?
When was Norton 'bombed' out by a big puncher?
Foreman? duh...George wipes the floor with anyone at that time. Anyone else before Kenny was going downhill?
Lyle could be hurt; he showed it several times. Quarry copped a relatively easy UD. No I'm not bringing Norton's fight with Jerry into the equation because Jerry was 'shot' at that point.
Show me a 'signature' win in Lyle's career? Shavers? He was out like a light at the end of round 2 in that one.
In closing, Norton had the savvy and skills to best Lyle; granted it would have been an exciting bout but I see Kenny on a UD or late stoppage. Ron could run out of gas at some point and it showed.
His Ellis? Bonavena? etc. UD's were in his back yard and both of them were well past prime.

You wrote a bible for nothing my friend, you can mention every single fight of them and still it will prove nothing... Lyle has stylistical advantage here, he has more power, better chin is the stronger man and lyle would overpower him.. You could say that norton did beat ali... So what? Foreman could not beat ali neither but he did clean the floor with norton.
Btw you forgot about garcĂa... What is the excuse here? Pre prime norton? Please...

Never realised how near identical there records are, Lyle boasting only 1 extra win, but 2 less stoppages. Definitley a pick em fight, lots of people picking Lyle by stoppage which isn't surprising. On the other hand, if Lyle expends to much energy early, it isn't hard to envisage Ken stopping his counterpart
