Lyndon Arthur vs. Liam Cameron, 10 rounds @ light heavyweight

 

This is for the vacant WBA intercontinental title, which doesn't have a terribly prestigious lineage - the best to hold it was Dmitrii Bivol followed by probably Jean-Marc Mormeck, then either Vyzcheslav Uzelkov or Mathieu Bauderlique. The rest? Meh.

 

Round 1

Arthur circling and trading jabs with Cameron. Arthur well controlling the pace and distance jabbing on the back foot, and may have broken Cameron's nose with that left stick. Cameron reduced to wild underhanded combos jumping in, after starting out nicely in the first minute going jab for jab with Arthur.

Round 2

Cameron hammering his way in with overhands, turning southpaw and hooking the body. Arthur pinned on the ropes. Solid sustained offensive onslaught for Cameron the better part of the opening minute of the second round. Cameron is shooting a double jab at the chest and prodding Arthur back into a corner with a right hand on the stomach, reverted again to his orthodox stance. A couple of heavy right hands skimming above Arthur's glove and nicking his ear. Arthur tries buying some space with a leaning left hook on the body but Cameron staying in close. The pressure lets up a tiny bit in the final thirty seconds as Cameron tires. Uppercuts from Arthur. Cameron now skipping laterally on his bike, catching wind.

edit: Arthur landed a late shot - at or just after the bell? - and Cameron went down! Howard John Foster didn't call it a knockdown, pretty sure that is correct. They both threw in exchange after the bell had sounded. Crazy, a few seconds earlier and that's a three point swing going from 10-9 Cameron to a 10-8 for Arthur.

edit 2: at the start of round 3, a point is docked by HJF from Arthur for the infraction!

So mark the 2nd as 10-8 Cameron!

Round 3

Cameron is getting walked down and hit with the hard jab on the face again. Cameron having some brief spells of success winging overhands at the side of the head while swaying in, but this has been by and large more similar to round 1 than round 2.
