This is a fight that could have actually been made. So we'll play with history a little. Michael spinks defends his ibf belt against Holmes successfully, he's then set to defend against Tangstad. But he drops out due to injury. So spinks team decide on a so so heavy by the name of Buster Douglas. Not the greatest of record s so spinks is pretty confident.. So is the jinx good enough in 86 to clatter Douglas.. Or is this James S time 4 years before the tyson upset?? And as a after thought. If Douglas was to beat spinks, then what? Does he drop the ibf to fight Cooney? Meet Tyson the following year?
If he fought and beat Spinks in that time frame, then he would fight Tyson for unification. That would be his cash out fight and it would go similar to when Douglas fought Holyfield, he would get knocked out probably quicker.
And that would throw Boxing history into a different direction slugger. If like you say buster meets Tyson in 87 then yes, chances are he's getting stopped. It's a toss up then who gets to Tyson first and stops him. I'm actually leaning towards a spinks ko my self again Douglas. Buster would never get up for him like he did in Tokyo, so I see a lethargic buster being out boxed and stopped by a spinks barrage in the late rounds.
