I was checking out Beyond the Glory on Lennox Lewis and when he was 16 yrs of age Mike Tyson travelled to London england or canada and they sparred together. At that junction both were having trouble finding good sparring partners....At that time Cus Damato said someday they may meet in big title fight which eventually did happen......I am curious at that age who got the better of the two in sparring. I tend to think Tyson did, at that age he was more advanced and experienced and more mature phyicall.y Lewis was somewhat of a late bloomer.......Foreman also once sparred with Sonny Liston and Carl the trith williams also once sparred with mike tyson.......it is a small world for the boxing community:smoke..... ....
Lennox Lewis and his then trainer travelled to Catskills and sparred with Mike Tyson. There's loads of rumours going on about what happened, but Lennox himself said it was back and forth with him adapting rather well to Mike Tyson's style. Which is realistic, look at Tysons fights when he was 16, he was wild and ragged, suited for a guy like Lennox who could pick him apart technically.
Tyson also apparently sparred Bruno when Bruno was a pro and Tyson wasn't, Cus' made Tyson wear no headgear. And apparently Tyson got the better of him in those sparring sessions.
He had many sparring and exhibitions with Liston. I heard some were wars but Foreman learned how to have an intimidating aura by Liston. This content is protected "George Foreman was 20 years old when he turned pro in 1969. In what would be a substantial influence on his future in boxing, he was soon hired as a sparring partner for former heavyweight champ Sonny Liston. It is often forgotten that Liston, a much-feared puncher in his day, continued to campaign after losing his 1965 rematch with Muhammad Ali, and in mid-1969 was standing on a 13 fight winning streak, mostly by knockout. Foreman's early style owes something to working with Liston, who like Foreman was a big, incredibly strong, hard-hitting fighter. Foreman also modeled his demeanor on the hulking, menacing Liston." http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/627421/big_george_foreman_the_allamerican.html?cat=49
Lennox went to NY to spar with Tyson when they were teenagers. As said, lots of rumors, but based on hearing accounts from people that were there (and what Tyson and Lennox have said), Tyson did very well against Lennox at the beginning with Lennox ad******g and getting the better of Tyson the rest of the sessions.
If I could make one fight at heavyweight, it wouldn't be Tyson/Ali or Tyson/Foreman etc. It would be a Liston on that KO streak he was from Cleveland Williams to Ali 1 vs the George that blew away Joe Frazier. I find it amazing these guys sparred, I would kill for footage!
Me too I love Big George and like looking at Liston fights. It does look weird. Start at 3:22 of this video and you'll see them eventually shadowboxing with each other. I wish there was more footage of them together but this was all I could find. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXSJIxIe_AE[/ame]
